Gift Ideas NEEDED... But for something TOTALLY NWR !!!

My cousins daughter just got her FIRST Monthly friend!! (poor kid! only 10 ! )
Anyway, I want to get her a little something special. She LOVESSS to read, shes a smart active, fun girl... Very 'girly' girl, very into the nails, coordinating outfits, bags, wallets.. very mature for her age...

Cant think of anything to get her...

Anyone been down this road? What do I buy her???

I love that book! It was one of my favorites! Get that!

What about making a little gift basket with a book, some bubble bath..for those crampy days...and a heating pad...for those crampy days when you cant get into the bath with some midol as well and maybe a few tampos/pads. We can call it the first period emergency kit.

I like the basket idea. maybe include: a nice book, some bubbles for a bubble bath, bath salts, candles, lotion, picture frame, maybe a manicure set, a nice nightgown or something.

Oh Deb... good one with the midol. I remember when I first got mine I was so miserable. Then my friend got hers and her family threw her like a little party. She got all these presents. I felt like I was jipped! They looked at it as a celebration of womanhood my family took it as 'oh my Gawd our baby is growing up '

LOL, This is a funny thread ! Thanks for the ideas, girls!! I actually wanted to get her that book last year, and wasnt sure if I should (to prepare her), so now I think i might, if she doesnt have it already! shes a bookworm!
I love the basket idea, the pj's, all the ideas!
Im making her a little basket !! YAYYY. awesome ideas.

10 seems so young! I got mine at 12-13.. my mom at 16 ! lucky!

I agree with Tammy a pedi/mani gift certificate. A whole basket may embarass her, I remember my Mom told everyone and people were calling to congratulate me and I wanted to move to Tibet I also got mine at 10

I was 10 also, and my mom just called to tell me the other day that my sister (10) got hers for the second month in a row!!!! I didn't expect it so young with her... Anyway, I would only do something for her if you are close enough with her that she would tell you HERSELF about it. Many young girls are not comfortable with it when they get it young. ONly you can say, we don't know this young lady very well. If yoiu do anything, I would take her to lunch and a pedicure or something like that. Maybe just an afternoon of shopping.

I like the Judy Blume book idea. Wow, 10 does seem young, but I was 11 so not that much older. Awwwww!

You are too adorable Anna! How nice of you! I like the mani/pedi idea also -- or go to a store like Sephora and get her some of the girly girl body spray, bath wash and deodorants. If she got AF she'll probably need to think more about hygeine. It's so great that they have all these products geared towards teens. Flip through a YM mag and get her a bunch of products they advertise. God, I was so embarrassed about getting mine and I was 13 already.

i personally would stay away from 'monthly items' just cause some kids dont want to draw attention to it..
I like the idea of a basket with book & maybe nailpolishes?
