Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

Well after some 'browsing' at the tuxedo rental places, FH has decided to purchase one.

Anybody else buy one just for the wedding?

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

I dont think FI would buy one. He does however already own a tux because when he was a bouncer the owner wanted him to wear a tux.

He is in a wedding a month after ours so I joke with him that he can just swap tuxes with the groomsmen Phil because FI is in Phil's wedding which is a month after ours.

But I dont think FI would honestly buy one because he would never wear it again (after Phil's wedding)

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

We bought one, b/c after all the future potential weddings that we have to go to possibly, its a good investment. And the cost was like $250 at syms, not including the shirt. So once you have worn it twice, you made your $$$

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

Mine bought his for his friends wedding so he is just using that....He has been in seven weddings so far and there are at least three more in his future, so at this point it was an investment.
Edited to say, His friends wedding... the tux was $175 and he paid $350, with the vest and the shirt.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

Mine is def. buying a tux! He absolutely needs it for the honeymoon...we're going to the Viennese (sp?) Orchestra in Vienna (obviously), and maybe a few other concerts/operas. So, he might as well have his own tux for all these events.

I don't think you can go wrong buying it, he'll always find another occasion for it.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

Dh thought about it...but then decided that he liked renting tuxes, b/c he could mix up the vests and ties and styles...

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

Kathy,
Same here...we might need it for the honeymoon since Monte Carlo has some black-tie casinos. And I'm hoping down the road to attend some local fund-raisers, so FH will definitely need one then.

We were just really disappointed with the options at the rental places. My FH is pickier than me when it comes clothes. (He's a fabric and cut snob.) I figured if I'm getting a new and 'special' dress, why shouldn't he get a new and 'special' suit!?!

Now we just have to find something for the other boys to rent/wear, cause I don't expect them to buy.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

FI needed a tux for work dinners and charity events so he already owns one. I haven't thought about it for the wedding. Maybe he will just switch vests or something. Unless he wants to go for a different look.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

FH would like to - we figure that he will need it for the cruises (he likes to dress and not wear the plain black suit - makes him feel underdressed) and when he graduates and gets a job he might need it for charity dinners - or fundraisers etc that he might have to go to for work - so he figures if he gets something traditional even if he only wears it once or twice every 3-5 years it was a good investment

ETD to say:Kathi The Viennese Orchestra!!!! You will have so much fun - I love to do things like that - My parents have season tickets to the Met - so I hope every year that they can't go to at least one or two so I get their tickets (orchestra)

My parents and I went to the Opera in Rome on one of our trips to italy. It was great.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

FI just picked up the tux he bought a few weeks ago. We have 7 weddings this year with more than half being black tie.....so it was definitley worth the investment.

He also wanted a very modern cut and a certain designer so it made sense for him to just get what he wanted and be done with it.

It is kind of funny though that one of the last weddings of the group is ours....so he will have worn it many times already...oh well...he will have a special tie and shirt for our day.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

Century 21 has some beautiful tuxes. They have a really nice Hugo Boss one for a great price. Plus great shirts that sell in department stores for almost double the price.

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

He's thinking about it. He told me that since I went out and spent alot of $ on a dress that he wants a 'deluxe tux.' My fear is that he buys it WITHOUT me or someone else seeing it - I'm afraid of what 'deluxe tux' means!

Re: Anybody else's FH buy a tux for the wedding?

My FH bought his tux as well. There were just not alot of 'quality' rentals and he is a snob about his suits!
Although I don't get to see him in it for another 4 months, I helped him pick it out!!!
