I am so upset (UPDATE) I am soo Happy

I am less than 8 months from my wedding and really need to be saving money. Well, today I found out I got screwed by my school district. I was all excited, I was supposed to teach summer school this summer. Well, went back to school today and everyone was talking how they got their letters for teaching summer school. I raced home at lunchtime to see if I got one, and none. I started hysterically crying. Then I called the lady in charge and asked why I wasn't selected to teach summer school, because I do have senority over the Student teachers they hired to teach it, plus I taught it last year, and she told me that she gave jobs to everyone who taught last year. I told her not me. So she looked up my file and said she never even received my application. I sent it in three months ago, the day after I received it, through inter office mail. There is no way they didn't receive it unless someone took it out. So she faxed me another application and told me if anyone does not accept the job I will be ONE of the first people she looks into. I am soo mad. I had my heart set on this. I was so excited. I love teaching in the summer, I am on my own to teach. And they gave jobs to new people who just graduated and never done it before. I am sooo Hurt. I guess I just have to keep my fingers crossed now that someone will drop out. Anybody know anyplace hiring for the summer. Sorry this is soo long. I am just so upset and needed to vent. Thanks!

I Just received a letter in the mail and I got a teaching position for the summer. I am sooo excited. I was really counting on this for extra wedding money. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

That s u c k s!!! I teach in the city and all you hear is that there are not enough summer school teachers!!! If I were an administrator, I would want someone more experienced teaching summer school because it would be less work for me. I'm sorry about this and please keep us posted if you hear anything! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I am so sorry to hear that!

Maybe you can take another type of part-tme job over the summer to compensate for the difference?

I know a private accreditted day care in Great Neck that is always looking for subs? Maybe you could start there?

sorry you're going through this!!! that really suuucks.....

if it makes you feel any better-my SIL is a music teacher in SMITHTOWN and she lost her job...

stupid budget cuts.

You have no idea how much i can relate to your situation! i too thought i was doing summer school but found out i didn't get the position either...this was supposed to be the summer i was going to work and save for my upcoming wedding! and the pay is so good for such a great position. i am so mad! i don't know which school district you teach for but could you call BOCES to see if any schools have positions? see, i work for the NPT S.D. but was going to be at Hauppague for the summer.
as far as anyone hiring elsewhere i don't know! have you ever waitressed? babysitting? tutoring? retail? yikes i know that's of no help-it's just all the things that went through my head when thinking of another job. i am sorry for you and hope something does come up!

Personally I can't stand summer school...i would rather do anything but...

but I can relate to 'lost' mail from school districts...mine 'never received' my transcript for my +30 differential...so whern I went over to straighten it out...they wouldn't give me my retro pay...

to be honest...i think you would make more money waitressing than teaching summer school...

Do you ever look at craigslist.com? They have a job section for NYC, you can look under education jobs. I hope it works out for you.

Thank you girls, I am hoping I will hear something in the next few days. Supposedly they are taking jobs away from some new people because they really screwed up. I am keeping my fingers crossed. If I don't get it, I was thinking of signing up for three classes in summer school and at the end of August I'll have my Master's degree, instead of waiting til december to get it. Thank you everyone. I am in a better mood today and I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I got my summer school job!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sooo happy. I needed this money for the wedding. Thank God.
