I can't believe some people!!!

FH and I went to a BBQ last night w/the rest of the guys from the fire dept. and their wives. Well, the wives have never been particularly friendly to me, except for 2 of them, and I always get the feeling they are talking about me when I am not there. Whatever, I kept trying to talk to them and be nice, they kept walking away after 5 minutes... Well... we're all in a group, and one asks me what year I graduated (they were all in '89, '92, etc..) and I graduated in '99 - I'm only 22 years old. They seemed shocked, but I didn't think too much of it. Well, when we get home, FH casually mentions to me that 'a bunch of the guys asked if you were pregnant b/c of the wedding being so sudden' EXCUSE ME!!!!!! We pushed up the date b/c FFIL is so sick and may not be here next year - which they ALL know about! (FFIL is very big in the FD) Just because we didn't mention the wedding plans earlier, that means I'm pregnant?!? No wonder I feel like the wives are always talking about me - they probably were, gossipy little Biatches that they are!!

Sorry but I needed to vent, I am SOOO mad at the nerve of these people who barely even know me.

That stinks. Nothing you can do but ignore them. You lashing back at them will add more fuel to their fire. If you ignore them and continue to be nice, they will have nothing bad to talk about....

And who cares how old you are. You are fortunate to have found true love at an early age. They're probably just jealous!

Well, you hit the nail on the head, they are gossipy biatches and they barely know you. They are probably all jealous and I hope your FH said something to the people who made that pregnancy comment. As I always say, poop on them

And you know, I'm not even 'big' by any means in the stomach area, and we have already been planning for months... you'd think that if I was, I'd be showing by now anyway!!!

that really is rude!!! a few years ago my cousin moved up her wedding and i was bombarded by family members calling to see if she was pregnant since i was the MOH!!! i couldn't believe the nerve of people!!

Frankie and I have been together for 6 1/2 years. I was 29 when we got engaged. After we got engaged we called my parents and then his mother. Well first question out of her mouth is -- Is she pregnant? Then we call my father. In the time that we called my Father she had called his 3 sisters and his brother and told them all that I MUST BE PREGGO!! Well it has been 2 years I wonder if she still thinks that!

Ignore them! They are not worth it!

You got yourself into a group of catty, jealous women who are probably so bored and have no life whatsover that they have to pick on the newcomer. To hell with them, just keep your chin up and remain nice, kill them with kindness.

Eventually you will make your own group of friends within the NYFD wives group. Til then, just know they are not worth your time anyway.

It sounds to me that the wives dont like you because they are jealous of you..the fact that they even think like that instead of just being happy for you shows the type of people they are..they have to think that maybe you are pregnant just to make up conversation. Pure jealousy..you are this younger girl whos getting attention...screw em..enjoy yoru engagement! And Im sorry to hear about your FFIL..
