Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

Any advice on honeymoon planning? The travel agents we have been to have not been helpful. We tell them what we're looking for but they don't make suggestions. Our guess is they don't want to take the blame if we don't like it. Anyway, this is what we're looking for:
A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING!
We both like to party so we want night life.
We both like the beach, especially him.
We both like adventure, especially me.
So far we thought about
Hawaii - he's been there
Greece - I've been there
Australia - he's says it's too far
Tahiti - I say it might be too boring, how long can you sit on the beach for?
We're looking at 2 weeks, the beginning of May '04. Any advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! Thanx!

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

My mother just showed me a site on the internet thta has great vacation ideas - Apple Travel i believe. She just booked a vacation from there for the end of the summer and it looks gorgeous!
I've also heard that Iceland is a gret place to go - and is becoming a new 'hot spot'. no beaches, but I hear it's beautidul and there's tons to do. It sounds like the 2 of you have been almost everywhere...that might be an interesting change!

I would love to do Italy! Maybe hit Spain, France and England while there.

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

How about Africa? I went on a 2 week trip to Tanzania, and it was great! We spent 8 days on safari (tons of adventure there), then the rest in Zanzibar, which is a tiny island of all beaches!

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

Honestly I would suggest taking a cruise to somewhere - there is nightlife - you can have beaches depending on where you go - but at least you have the pool, and they have lots of tours - from hiking, catamarans with snorkling, scuba diving, parasailing, kyacking, plus sightseeing tours - you can go to tahiti that way if you wanted then you aren't sitting on the same beach - or you can do the panama canal, or the caribbean, or hawaii, or go to alaska (but won't have beach)

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

How about Europe? - Italy and France would be perfect. From biking, hiking, great restaurants, wine, beaches etc. You could even do Sicily and Malta. Plenty of adventure, beach and I think nightlife.

About Africa - this would be a great option and we looked into doing a safari and then hitting Tanzania for the beaches. Just be careful about travel warnings - when we looked there were crazy warnings about American kidnappings in Tanzania etc that I would NOT want to worry about on my honeymoom!

we're taking a cruise through the south pacific. during the day we can be as active or as lazy as we want, and at night we have the restaurants and discos on the ship.

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

I know everyone has different prefernces..but we had a tough time as well with ours because Ive been all over Europe and hes covered the Caribbean..so Mexico was it, but the place we booked is all inclusive at one really huge resort, thats where we will sleep..and it is ALSO all inclusive at six other resorts..a shuttle takes you to all of teh diffrent resorts and you eat and drink at whatever one you feel like that day. I can only handle so much beach as well..so then cancun is 20 minutes away witha huge nightlife, and cozumel is one hour by ferry, we chose this spot because we are gone for 11 days and we figured there is so much to do we cant go wrong..the price was GREAT and Liberty Travel had teh best prices..believe me..I called around.

kat....I think the cruise idea sounds good because then you get a little bit of everything. Cruises are so much fun too. Mexico isn't a bad idea either

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

The Cook Islands or Fiji, still far but well worth it. The cook islands are known for culture, adventure, dancing. Fiji has 300 islands, so take a little while and visit a few, some are known for snorkeling/diving, others for nightlife. The cook islands have a deserted island known as the most beautiful in the world that you can take a couple nights and camp out on (One foot Island).

They both have diving, snorkeling, rainforest, culture, dancing!

We're doing 3 weeks in Fiji, seeing 4 islands, and it's still cheaper than Europe, and both are way cheaper than Tahiti..so you can spend more time with whatever budget you have.

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

Kat- whatever you decide, I would recommend you check out fodors.com. I find them to be an invaluable resource for overviews of locations, info on when to go, where to stay, sample itineraries etc. Plus there's a 'Talk' section where you can get advice from other travelers. Good luck and have fun planning it!

Re: Please help w/ honeymoon plans!

OK, interesting honeymoons...

The Florida Keys are nice, but maybe not enough for 2 weeks.

Alaskan adventure cruise... they have rock climbing & other 'adventure stuff' on the boat & once you get to Alaska there are all sorts of hiking & exploration tours & it starts in the west coast do you still get the beach.

Spain is amazing, as is the french riviera. Beach, hiking, touring & biking. And a great night life in both. (plus a short trip to Monte Carlo....the ultimate night life)

An african safari may be exciting, but the accommodations might be less than perfect & I think May you may need to check the weather, but it is definately something to consider...

Australia has the best beaches, snorkling, hiking, touring, nightlife & such, the only downsides.. it is expensive to get there/stay there & the flight is really long (no more sst's).

good luck & let us know what you decide.
