WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
Sorry!! But here is one of those questions that just WHO can you ask besides your LIWEDDING BUDDIES!!!???How 'protected' is baby in there? I have been very careful of course and everything is totally fine. But sometimes I wonder, if my puppy walks on my belly for a second before I throw her off - is that dangerous? Or getting knocked down a little by a wave at the beach, laying on my stomach for a massage...stuff like that - how safe is baby? Can he/she 'come loose' or get scared? At 14 weeks does a baby get startled if I am scared at the movies and jump out of my seat?
Thanks ladies!

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
I was totally thinking about this question this weekend. How funny! The reason I thought about it was because I saw a pregnant woman carrying her 3 year old child and I thought ... is that safe? I'm sure it is and I would be concern too, but these ladies will be able to answer so much more than me!

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
the baby in enveloped in the amino fluid. kind of like its own little water cocoon. so when you turn over in bed, dance, twist, etc,.the baby sloshes around. As far as doggy goes- its fine. I think its funny that he/she wants to sit on your belly. Animals can tell when we are pregant..I'm sure!
Massage? hmm.. most places will NOT massage a pregnant lady...UNLESS they specify that it is a pregnant massage. Foot or shoulder massages are ok.
Careful with stretching up to reach for things. in the last trimester it is a little more dangerous to do this.
I would suggest picking up the bk 'what to expect when you are expecting'

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
The baby is VERY well protected, don't worry. On vacation I went on a 'not recommended for pregnant women' ride, with my doctor's permission. When I asked if I could, he said not to worry... you can't shake the baby out!
I also had a massage, and either laid on my back or side. There is nothing wrong with laying on your stomach, as long as YOU are comfortable. The key is to listen to your body.

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
My cat will lay on my belly (towards the top usually) and I don't worry at all about the baby. However, when I went to a concert I held my stomach with my hands as I was moving thru the turn-style thing. I think the baby is very protected, but sometimes we feel a need to just make sure.

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
because of the amnio fluid, the baby is very well protected and can not be injured with a little shaking

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
My cat use to lay on my belly too. I assumed she wanted to soothe the baby with the purring. I bet the baby was soothed by it. Arent they so perceptive?

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
Stupid Question, but isn't it dangerous with the cat? Is it true what they say about cat scratch disease? That the baby can be born still born? Either I'm a neurotic nut or I'm getting wrong info!

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
i was just told not to touch the litter. my kitties are indoor and dont' scratch - but i don't think there is any significant concern on catscratching - unless maybe so wild rabid cat gets you outside or something!

Re: WARNING STUPID QUESTION!
Cat faeces can carry a parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, an infection that isn't serious for you but can pose a danger to your developing baby. Some birds and other animals, as well as some raw or undercooked meats, can also carry the parasite. Toxoplasmosis causes most severe damage to the fetus if a woman comes down with it in her first trimester. There is a blood test which can show whether you have had toxoplasmosis. If you are worried, speak to your GP about it.
