Number of guests on shower list

I have 56 guests on my shower list including the bridal party and MOB and FMIL. Four guests are out of state and I know will not be able to attend, but need to get an invite. Do you think this number is too high?

I was asked today to make my list to the bare minimum and I am stressing about it now.

well, it depends on where you are doing it. i had about 40 people at my 1st shower- it didn't seem too bad.

i guess it also depends on your guest list to the wedding - you don't want to invite everyone on the wedding guest list to the shower - in my opinion.

I have a big family and I saw my moms list for my shower and it had 97 people on it, so far. about 20 are from out of state but will be insulted if they don't get invites. So I don't think you have too many. It depends on the size of your family and friends.

My sister invited 50 and 45 are coming....

Well I have no say in where it is going to be, but I was a little upset when I was told to x as many people as possible. I have 208 on the guest list so I did not think the number to the shower was that large.
