Is Weight Watchers Online Membership worth it, or do you have to go to meetings in person to understand the plan?

Hello all. I've been considering weight watchers as it seems to be the healthiest long-term plan. Do you think I can benefit by just signing up online, or do you think that attending meetings is critical?

I don't think online membership is worth it nor do I think that the meetings help.

I think if you can go when they have 'free registration' specials and just get the booklet and the point calculator, you should be ok...

But I am not sure if WW will work for you if you only have a bit to lose (it didn't help me)

I'd like to lost about 15-20 pounds. I'm not sure if that qualifies as a bit or not. I'm not concerned about it being fast, I just want to start moving in that direction instead of continuing to creep upward.

Hmm I wonder if I could get the materials you are talking about on ebay. Do you know the name of the most recent edition?

How much does the calculator/kit cost at the meetings? Looking on Ebay they seem to be selling for about $76!

Re: Is Weight Watchers Online Membership worth it, or do you have to go to meetings in person to understand the plan?

Valenie, it does not cost anything!!! Whatever they are selling on ebay, I have no clue.

But at your first meeting, they give you a little booklet (about 20 pages or so) and a chart, that calculates the # of points based on calories, fat and fiber.

Don't buy the stuff on ebay. Just go to the first meeting, and if you want to just try it out, do the 'pay as you go' plan, so you don't have to attend if you don't want to.

And when I meant a little bit of weight, I meant around 10 lbs, which is what I was trying to lose, but it didn't happen. Plus i always felt as if I were starving.

Oh, I see what's on ebay...

You don't need any of these items.

They don't give you a calculator but its a chart, with cutouts for calories, fat and fiber and you kind of line them up to figure out points.

The booklet contains basic common foods and their points per serving.

The guides sold on ebay are extra companions

Re: Is Weight Watchers Online Membership worth it, or do you have to go to meetings in person to understand the plan?

Valenia, I have been doing WW on-line for 4 months now, down almost 20 pounds, I love it. I can get pretty dedicated on a diet and stick to it, meetings aren't for me though I hear some people need their meetings to stick to it. My scale gives me a kick in the butt every week and that is good enough for me. What kind of dieter are you? If you can do it and follow on your own, then I think on-line would work just fine for you. Let me know if you want to know anything else and the girls on here are GREAT support as well!

I think going to the meetings helps, especially the wieghing in part. You tend not to pig out when you know you are weighing in.

Re: Is Weight Watchers Online Membership worth it, or do you have to go to meetings in person to understand the plan?

I think its all about the leader

I love my WW leader. She is amazing. We email each other almost everyday, send each other jokes and when I fit into a smaller dress and emailed her she sent me the best email congratulating me and telling me I have to celebrate at our next meeting.

She is so supportive and so encouraging that I want to follow in her footsteps of being a leader. I asked her how I can go about it. (I have to be a lifetime member)

I think WW is amazing and its great especially for long term goals.

You are always welcomed to join my meeting if you are willing to travel to Queens. My leader is very inspiring.

I think with WW you learn a lot about foods, your intake and really start develop better eating habits. I was never aware of what I was eating until WW. I started WW and now I am more consciece of the foods i eat, how much of it, and how to loose the weight and even keep it off.

I think WW is definatly a great way to loose the weight and definatly worth the money
