Terrible thing happened today-teachers especially read

I am a NYC teacher and I got to work at about 7:30 this morning, only to find cop cars outside of the school. I figured something minor happened in the area, considering it is a very rough area. Well I get out and find out that the entire school was vandalized and trashed last night from head to toe. Every classroom was destroyed, all bulletin boards were ripped down, computers broken, paint all over the walls, all overhead projectors were smashed to pieces, desks turned over, glass all over the place, copy machines smashed and much more.

Setting up a classroom takes numerous hours and lots of money and all our hard work is now down the drain. I was at work every day last week and this past week setting up my room for this Monday coming up.

They are allowing us to go in tomorrow after the crime units come in and cleaning crews.

Sorry for babbling, just upset at what happend and how awful some people are to do such a horrible crime in a school.

So my last free weekend before my wedding, I will spend back at work!

Oh my...that is just terrible! Where do you work? I used to teach in a not so good area in Brooklyn and used to worry about that sort of thing happening. Only once or twice did minor things go on.

my heart goes out to you...I know the effort it takes to put a room together..

what I cannot believe is that computers were broken...don't people realize this is a tool for students to get ahead?

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS AWFUL!!!! SICKENING!!! I am not a teacher, but have tons of friends who are, but this is so disturbing!

OMG!! I am so sorry. I just don't get some people. My school was vandalized last year (long Island). People broke into our library and trashed the computers, pouring liquid soap into the monitors and hard drives, they ripped books, just trashed the whole brand new library. I don't get it. Do the people that do this go home and feel proud? Do they go to sleep at night saying, Wow, I trashed a school tonight I am a hero! What a bunch of JERKS!!! I am soo sorry. At least nobody was physically harmed.

First of all

to you.

Secondly, what school do u work in?Could you Fm if you arent comfortable posting it, I am very curious to know.
Third, i am soooo sooooo sorry this happened. i just finished seting up my room the ast four days and had a helper thank god and it still took every free moment of my time.

Hopeully the horrible people who did this get caught!!!

My heart goes out to you and those poor kids. It's such a sad world we live in...I can't begin to understand the mentality of people who would do such a thing. I am disgusted now.
