Copies of Marriage License

Do they only give you one official copy of the marriage license when you get it? Don't you need more than one original to change your name? How does that work?

You are mailed one copy of your marriage license. You get it about 2 weeks after you are married.

I only had to use my original so far for SS & DMV and banking.

Everything else (credit cards etc) I did over the phone. No copy needed.

You can order more copies if needed.

You can order extra copies ( $10 each) when you apply. Its probably a good idea to have an extra around. Besides SS & DMV, you need to send it away for a change of name to your passport. Check with banks and mutual fund co's to find out their policy also. I needed an original to change the name on my IRA.
