Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

I heard one recent bride complain that the bars were not equiped to make frozen drinks until she came in and complained. She also said that they did not open the cocktail hour up until her husband came and opened the doors.

If possible, can you look out for these things? I am now very nervous, since I heard this complaint...

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

I will watch out for all your concerns. I am so looking forward to this wedding. They are using the same band that we used for our wedding.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

Billysbride - our wedding was at Leonards and the cake was GREAT! It was in April of '01 so I can't say the chef will be the same, but it was a great cake. We got chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and a white icing.

Pinky - our reception was also on the third floor - I never saw another bride until we were leaving. The large bridal suite was wonderful.

We had no complaints about the service at all. We did not have a full Viennese, just what the called the modified Viennese which was cookies and pastrys on the table and a cappacino/espresso cart which we were surprised to find also included cordials and liquers in little chocolate cups.

The food is great - if you haven't picked your menu for the cocktail hour be sure to get the fried calimari - DH says it's the best he's ever eaten.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

I just had my wedding there August 10th, everything was exceptional!! I received a ton of compliments on their service and the FOOD. I was very pleased. About cocktail hour, they opened it when they were suppose to, my husband didn't have to go there and tell them or anything. The only thing I will suggest is that if you do happen to leave something there, don't expect to get it back. I left my shoes under my table at the end of the night for only the last 1/2 hour. I called them the next day and they claim they don't have them, which means someone at Leonard's just decided to take them for themselves. No one else would have known about them since they were hidden. They could have only found them once they disassemble our table at the end of the night. So now I'm without my beautiful shoes!
But other than that, we had an incredible time and people are still raving about the food and how classy the place was. You won't regret having your wedding there, I know I don't.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

Holiday Parisian room...

I am also serving the fried calamari ( I don't eat seafood). I think they made it standard now, in every package.

Good Luck to everyone!!

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

Can you please look at how they are managing multiple weddings?

I am having my wedding there May 2005 and someone said that their multiple weddings can get pretty disasterous. I am also on the second floor, the room with the balcony... I never saw the bridal suit yet... is it the room between the balcony and the reception room? If so, it does look really big.

This is my room.. on the second floor.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

I'm booked for Leonard's for next year, November 12 for the Holiday Parisian room. I did a food tasting about two weeks ago, and the food was delicious. I was just a little annoyed b/c when I signed my contract, I wasn't 100% sure about my add-ons, and I felt a little pressured to decide right when the contract was being made. So I added the shrimp, and I probably won't be able to take it off if I change my mind.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

I know they have a bunch of banquet managers there and I guess it depends on who you talk to b/c I know a few others at work who are getting married there and say they felt pressured, etc... I worked with a guy named Ernest and he was very attentive and listned to what we had to say. I also told them when I booked that I wanted to start off with a basic package and add on depending on our budget early next year. He was totally fine with that and by no means did he pressure me at all, which I appreciate b/c I break down easily.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

Who did you deal with?

My experience was completely different. He outlined EVERYTHING that we put in the contract, and even told us that if we choose not to have the seafood platter (as we signed on) it would be fine. We weren't pressured to sign right away at all, and just the opposite he told us to go home and think about it. Its interesting, but I had a completely different experience.

Re: Leonard's of Great Neck brides

Oh, I didn't mean I was pressured to sign the contract. I was ready to book the day. He was just saying it was easier if I decided what I wanted then to put in the contract, and everything was specifically written out, but I really was torn about adding the shrimp.

They were very accommodating for me since the Continental room was booked for all the choices of days I wanted, so they let me get the Holiday Parisian room that seats more people for the same minimum at 100.
