questions to ask for reception?

I have appointments with two places this weekend. I have read the list of questions to ask and I think they are a great tool. Good questions to ask. Does anyone know from experience what to ask that may cut the cost? Thanks!

Re: questions to ask for reception?

If you can guarantee a high number of people, and if you are planning a wedding 'off-season,' you might get a break on the per person price. Also, I always recommend the 'If you can drop the price to X, we'd love to have you send us a contract' strategy.

Re: questions to ask for reception?

You can ask if they offer the table centerpieces.
That could save you a lot of money.

Re: questions to ask for reception?

I have found that most places are more willing to add stuff in for the same price rather than cut the price. For example, you can ask them to add champagne and strawberries for guests when they arrive, an additional carving station at cocktail hour, ice sculpture etc. etc. Also, like previous post stated, raising the guaranteed # of people also helps - so quote a lower number at first and then during negotiation say, 'if i can guarantee 'X' additional people, how would that affect the price and/or could you throw this in for free' Good luck and tell us all about it!!
