Any Coral House brides . . .
Any Coral House brides in the next few months out there? Just wanted to make sure you were aware that the Parks Department is dredging Milburn Pond and so the Coral House side of the lake is blocked off by a white fence that the Coral House has put up. The whole lake is surrounded by a chain link fence. I am getting married there this weekend (10/12) and found out about this from the Parks Department. When I asked the Coral House why they did not tell me when I was there the night before, they said they did not want to worry any brides.

I was supposed to have my ceremony by the lake. We will be having it inside instead. We are still going to do the pictures outside. Not much we can do, since we found out on such short notice.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
They did not want to give us our money back. We didn't want to have any other problems so didn't want to cause a stink. We are having the ceremony in the south corner of the large ballroom since they had a cancellation.
Jennbaby, the dredging is a huge construction site. We drove past this weekend. There is no water in the lake at all and it is all mud.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
I am sorry you cannot get your money back.I do think you should ask for something to be thrown in to compensate for your inconvenience.
Please post a review when all is said and done.

My reception was in the ballroom (Americana room)

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
wow, I can't believe they didn't tell you...how unfortunate. I would ask them to throw something in, extra food at cocktail, dessert, etc. Good luck with everything.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
Yeah, definitely request something to make it up to you. I passed Coral House yesterday b/c I went in that area to look at bridal gowns. I really didn't look at it closely, but I heard my sister-in-law say, they must be doing construction or something.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
I just got married there on 9/27. I noticed those things too and honestly, it smelled a little
But my photographer was able to take pics w/out that stuff and no one noticed anything from our room (Nantucket deck).
ETA:
no water in the lake!! OMG! I can't believe them....sorry
I would demand something extra.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
That really stinks that they didn't inform you. I know things happen, but they really should've let you know.
I would definitely make sure that they throw in some extras!
I am sorry that this happened to you. Regardless, I am sure that your day will be wonderful!

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
That is so upsetting!!! My FH and I live near the Coral House... We couldn't believe what we saw!!! I thought they would at least cut your price per plate.. I can't believe they did not even try and notify you!!! The Parks Dept must have given them some notice... I think the construction started approx. 2 weeks ago (I think).. Best of luck and make sure you get them to throw in something!!!

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
UM...Just so you all know, Coral House knew back in January that construction was going to begin sometime this year!! (the project mgr from the parks dept himself told me he notified Coral House in Jan) They purposely kept it from people so they wouldnt lose business. Like mine...I signed the contract in February without knowing what was in store. Ground was broken 9/2, (day after labor day) and I only found out (1st wk of Oct) from a friend who happened to drive by and see all the construction... I confronted them and of course requested some kind of compensation. they did give me a discount off the price per plate...but not much!!My point: If you want a 'lakeside setting' Coral House is not the place for you!
Mose ironic part about the whole thing: Not even the benches in the back belong to Coral House, they belong to the County! go figure.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
I passed by it the other day and it looked like the put up a big white fence in the back to block the view of the lake construction.

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
the project manager told me he expects the excavation (just the basic digging and ground preparation) to be completed by march 2004. He could not say when the entire project would be completed.

I thought I had a great 'lakeside setting'!!
Here was my dais table:
and all my guests saw the same thing out of the huge windows, of course till it got dark out...

Re: Any Coral House brides . . .
I was just reading all of the posts....I was planning an Aug or Sept 2004 wedding there but I''m very uncertain right now....you stated the basic digging and groud prep may be completed March 2004 but no date as to when the ENTIRE project will be completed?! What a lot of nonsense....I hope you demand a good compensation if not contact your local BBB (Better Business Bureau) and file a complaint
