Spinoff on Parents who are divorced - Any one parent you don't want at the wedding?

Or for those of you who are married.. any show up who you prefer didnt?

I have been told in very directly clear words that if my Mother shows up she's in for a very very rude surprise. I personally will not bother, it's my wedding, but others will 'take care' of it for me.

FH's Father is not invited either. I can only imagine the amount of hell that will occur if she shows up and says something stupid in front of my SIL (who hates him passionately).

My stepmother? Well Im not big on her, but she knows better than to cause a scene. FH's mother's boyfriend (mouth full) is more than welcome to come. We've got no problems with him.

I honestly don't want my birth mother there. She's never been there for me unless it was convenient to her . She promised to buy my dress, so I fronted the money, now the bill came in and I get blown off. OH..and she has the audacity to ask for her friends to be invited because she'll pay for them. I'd also leave off anyone from her side of the family. I never liked any of them.

Re: Spinoff on Parents who are divorced - Any one parent you don't want at the wedding?

Nikki I hear you!
It took me 16 years of my life before I decided to 'reach out' to my mother. BIG MISTAKE.

After 9/11 and what my so called mother said, I've told her family not even to bother inviting me to her funeral.

But if she really wanted to **** me off, it would be to show up at my wedding. She knows I wont allow her to see my brother and my nephew. My brohter and I are close. The bottom line was if she didn't make amends with me, she would never seen her grandson. It's my call since i was the one she owed the most to. I gave her, her chance. No more. Freak. So glad Im free of that monster.

Re: Spinoff on Parents who are divorced - Any one parent you don't want at the wedding?

My FFIL's wife (FI's step-mom) is absolutely not invited. It has caused an already bad situation to get infinitely worse, but I stand by FI. This woman is a royal biatch and tortured FI throughout his childhood. The real downfall is that FI's step-siblings have decided not to attend out of respect for their mother, even though they grew up with FI.

oh well - their loss!!!

I also gave her many many chances and she screwed them all up, now I live my life without her as I have done my whole life and I am so happy!!

Re: Spinoff on Parents who are divorced - Any one parent you don't want at the wedding?

Nikki,
Exactly.

I told my brother, I lived pretty happy during those 16 years without her. I think we should go back to that. So we are. Just Bites that she is my only link to my half sister, but even that Im willing to give up if it means my half sister will never have to know what my mother was like before she was born. It something no child should find out about their mother.

I had to sit my FH down and 'discuss' the 'what ifs' of our biological parents showing up. We can't stop it, but I don't want it to ruin our day. I refuse to. We have other people to take care of them. For us, we just want to be happy.

Re: Spinoff on Parents who are divorced - Any one parent you don't want at the wedding?

I don't want my dad to come. All he does is take credit for the way my life turned out, like he had everything to do with it (SO not true- my mom raised me by herself- dad was too busy being an alcoholic). My parents divorced when I was 18 (I am 27), and I have talked to see/seen him MAYBE about 20 times. He only calls when he needs something, or to tell me some kind of lie.
