music suggestions: live bands/combos

Hi everyone,

I'm new here (well, technically that's not true -- I've been lurking without logging in) and have found you all to be very helpful! A belated thanks for all of the detailed vendor reviews, reception site suggestions, etc. I've enjoyed reading your posts!

I wonder if anyone might be able to help me out with recommendations for a live band or small combo for the reception (if they can do ceremony music too, that'd be great). A lot of the ones I've investigated online seem super-cheesy! Ideally, we'd like something classy and relatively low-key; we're not into dancing, and most of our guests aren't either. We were thinking about jazz or even Irish folk music (!) -- any ideas?

i got a 5-piece band/dj combo and i think that they are just the coolest! he charged me 4,500 and this also included my piano and volin for cocktail hour and 2 trumpets at the church!
i used ernie from 4-star enterainment.

The Manhattan Rhythm Machine is a fantastic band. There Manhattan based but they are comparable if not cheaper than some of the bands we looked at from LI. We also booked a trio for our cocktail hour through them and it didn't cost that much.
