not yet Just saw my friends new baby again tonight & then John & I were wondering this question. When my time comes we will stock up early on cases

Breastfed newborns will naturally require more diaper changes, and they tend to poop with each feeding. So, if you're feeding every 3 hours - well, you can do the math on that in a 24 hr. period.

Formula fed babies will average about 8-10 wet or soiled diapers in 24 hrs. Some days more, some days less.

I'd say this stays pretty consistent over the first year of their lives....it will obviously increase if the child is sick, or has a lot to drink....but, I'd say 8-10 diapers a day is average.

Holy Moly is Claud right about the pooping everytime I always change him right before I feed him and then like clockwork he poops in the middle of the feeding. Plus he hates wet or soiled diapers so I am constanly changing him. I would say I go through a jumbo pack of size 1 diapers a week.

I wish he only ate every 3 hours, it more like every 1 1/2 hours

How can I stock up though if I don't know what kind of diapers will work best? Any suggestions?

I think we go through at least 8-12 diapers a day..depending on amount of liquid she takes in. Julianne also does not like sitting in a dirty diaper..so maybe we go thru more than that....

I remember that in my 3rd tri, my drs office had sample bags from American baby or parenting...and in it were samples of destin ( I still have some) and one diaper sample of either huggies or white cloud (wal mart brand).. I would take 1 or 2 every tim eI was there..seems that there always was a supply...
sign up on every registry sheet you see- in your drs office...in your maaternity/obgyn area in your local hospital, ( especially if they send you there for testing)..etc. You will get a lot of junk mail - photographers, picture books, etc...but you will also get diaper coupons and formula coupons.

TAKE WHATEVER you can get. Advertisers have these programs for a reason ( i work in adv)...so take advantage.
I would say getting one case of newborn and one case of size one diapers ..wont go to waste. one case of wipes too..without perfume is better...and keep your reciepts. Stores will allow u to exchange for a diff brand or size as long as it is not open.

I found from searching around that in the end you need to try diff brands to see what works for you.
Papers and huggies are popular...we used pampers for a while (swaddlers) but we found that White Cloud brand (walmart) and the BJS brand work just fine! I would get pampers on sale at BRU- a case for like $17...and that had about 78 diapers....now I get BJS everyday price $16...and get about 108 diapers..much better.
