Q: For those who used non--floral centerpieces--

I read about and bought a flat mirror with a fish bowl, floating flowers and votives. I love the look of it, and especially b.c someone can take it home and keep it. My question is, who can set these up for me?? Is it too much to ask the staff at the reception? Do I need to ask a family member?

where are you getting married? maybe you can see if they will do it?

i think i'm going to have some of my friends help set up at the beginning of the cocktail hour (when everyone is in a different room)

If i end up doing a non-floral centerpiece or 1/2 floral half floating candles (and get the bowl and candles myself) I am going to ask friends of mine to set it up for me and ask the maitre' d to have someone go around and light the candles right before the cocktail hour ends. I would rahter have a friend do it (and compensate them with a gift certificate or something) than have the waitstaff do it and not do it correctly.

Or I can ask the florist to do it and bring the stuff over to the florist the night before with instructions if needed and pay her extra. But they'd be so busy in the first place I'd be wary of even doing that.
