Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

Is anyone going to wear their mother's wedding dress? I'm thinking of this but am nervous about the alterations...it's just hard to imagine what it will look like after I change it around. What do you guys think??

Re: Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

I think it would be very special if you can do it. It's a lovely idea!

Re: Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

wish i could but my mom was 5'2' and 98 lbs when she got married. I'm 5'6' and no where near 98 lbs! LOL

But I am going to use her clutch. She would have been so happy (or will be as I know she'll be there in spirit)

If you can find a seamstress that can maybe sketch it out how it will look for you maybe that will help?

Re: Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

I think it's great if you can wear your Mom's dress...that will make your dress that much more special.

My advice would just be to make sure you really do your homework on who is going to alter the dress and make sure you are comfortable with them.

Good Luck!

Re: Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

My sister wore our mom's wedding dress and it was beautiful. They're both under 5 feet and under 100 lbs, so it worked out well. Plus, the style really worked on my sister. And I know my mom was really pleased!

Re: Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

My mom really wants me to wear her dress, more than she's letting on. Am I being a spoiled bratt and selfish for wanting to get my own? I've always dreamed of looking for the perfect dress and trying on 'the one'. I don't know what to do.

Re: Wearing Mom's Wedding Dress?

I think that's great! I wanted to wear my mom's but there is no way I could ever fit. And then I was thinking of re-designing her dress for me but I don't want to ruin her dress.
