Resumer/HR quesiton! Please help anyone who is good at resume writing!

I have worked for a company as a freelance designer for 2 years and then 2 months ago they fired my Creative Director and asked me to step up and do his job. How do I put it on my resumer? Do I make two different entries?

for example:

9.03-Present SameCompanyName Freelance creative director (??)

12.01-9.03 CompanyName Frelance Designer

Also, how do I phrase the fact that I am techinically a Creative Director but it's not officially my title. I am still a freelancer. I hope you understood what I mean!

Help me!

If its not officially your title, I wouldn't use it.

What about listing your 'stepped up duties' in the very first line of your responsibilities as 'Designer':

12.01-Present CompanyName Freelance Designer

* Starting in September 2003, overtook the responsibilities of a creative director, and completed such and such projects

* Continue with regular duties as a Freelance Designer

Also, I would use the cover letter as a way to highlight your professional advancement from September onward...
