ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
Hey 06'ers.I ordered alot extra from my photographer and my super large portrait was a 20x20 but with this picture alot of the Villa Lombardi's scenery [which I love] got cut off so my photographer are re-doing it to a 20x24.
Now as I'm looking trhough my proofs, this is STILL my favorite pick, and DH doesn't have a preference as to what I pick, so he says.
I just don't want to get the portrait, have it framed and matted and everything only for DH to say he doesn't like it, and come up w/ reasons why, like ie.: you can't see much of his face. I've told him a dozen times this was the 1 I was ordering and he never said anything.
Those who have viewed my LIW website, and see 1/2 of my proofs, do you, in ur opinion, since u don't see much of DH is a good choice?
Or maybe I'm just getting aggrivated because I don't know how the new size is gunna come out. Its' been over 6 months since our wedding day and I just feel like I should havr my portrait by now. . .
what do you think?

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
Honestly, I think that seeing his face is more important than seeing the scenery especially for a picture that large. I am sure you can find a picture that does the grounds and the two of you justice.

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
yeah, but come to think of it,you don't see any more of my face then u do his . . . it's not like you see ALL of my face and none of his cause then, yes, that would be wrong.

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
I dunno, I just think that after the framing the picture will be enormous and you just have to decide what the focal point will be. If you cant see your faces, then honestly, it could look very generic.

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
Anyone else have any opinions? Also as an FYI - Patken, my photographer is my photojournalistic, so I don't have an insane amount of poses. More photojorunalistic ones, and those, and candids, you're never going to see alot of our faces. . .
I just went thru my proofs again, and its still my fave pic but I dunno, I just don't want Dh to get annoyed when he sees it.
God knows my mother in law loves to nitpick about little stuff like this.

I don't think this is necessarily true. I have a lot of photojournalistic and candid pictures that show our entire faces.
If that is the picture you like, then frame it. Just let your husband know that you have decided on that one. If he has no objections, then he really should not get upset once it's all done.

I had two photographers - one who did portraits and one who did photojournalistic shots. They were often taken at the same time at different angles. We too had plenty of shots that showed our faces. The picture you chose is a gorgeous picture, but it seems to feature the hall more than it features you and your DH. Personally, I wouldnt go through the time and expense to frame and mat a photo that large if i couldnt see the emotion on the face of one of the key players.
FYI - make sure that if you frame it behind glass, that the glass is non-glare. We have to frame and double mat our ketubah and it will run us hundreds of dollars because it is so large.
ETA:
Nitpicking MILs are never easy.

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
honestly I like the picture just because it is non-traditional. I do agree that when it is such a large picture, you might get lost in it, but then again, it is all about preference. If you don't mind the fact that you can't see either of your faces, I would go with it. I have a similar picture that we enlarged but it is a closer view. I went through your proofs & you have MANY gorgeous pictures but I seem to like the side views better then the head on. There is just something about that pose that strikes my attention

And I do love the picture. I think it is a very sweet picture of the 2 of you. I LOVE all the shots of DH & I looking at each other.

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
I know of a company that can make wallpaper out of a photo. Maybe pic a different pic for the 40'x 40', and make wallpaper out of this one?

My FM isn't working, so in response to your FM-
We had our living room done- we got to chose 3 pictures, and then on the 4th wall, we put up a collage of photos in frames.
It looks nice.

I saw it at her NYE party - it looks nice, I know it sounds like it might be tacky, but it was really pretty cool!

Thats so funny - DH decided not to paint an entire wall in our new place... instead, we are going to get that side of the room wallpapered with a giant wedding photo...

Re: ADVICE!!! Need help on enlargements....
Oh ok .. . back to my problem! LOL!My MOM doesn't think its a good pic either, so she just told me!
Its just that my perfext ideal pic for a huge portrait would be us looking at the camera which i th9ought the photographer took.
I have 2 w/ similar scenery BUT you hardly see any of my dress in 1, and the other, i think my face looks fat.
as far as the 40x40 wallpaper, DH is flipping out ENOUGH with all the pix on the wall and around the house. There is LITERALLY nthing but HM and wedding pix up!
lol!
