Anyone inviting children?

My FH's cousin asked if we were inviting children to the wedding so that he can plan for whether his girlfriend and her two children (ages 3 and 7) could come to the wedding.
We were not planning on having children--but my cousin is coming to the wedding all the way from Italy and she's 15--does she count as a child?? We would have about 10-12 children under the age of 12 we would have to invite! Anyone inviting children at all?

Re: Anyone inviting children?

we are only inviting the cousins that are 15 or older.....and the kiddies in the party ..... it gets to be too much.
as much as i want all the kids there.....my engagement party was a circus of kids....and it was stressing the parents out.

its grown-ups night out!

Re: Anyone inviting children?

a 15 year old doesn't count as a child....we are inviting the kids, none of them are really small, around the ages of 10-14

Re: Anyone inviting children?

We just had this conversation and decided we are only inviting children from the wedding party (3 flower girls & a ring bearer).

In your situation however, the circumstances are different and they are coming from Italy. Also 15 is on the verge of adulthood.

It depends on the feel of the wedding that you want, 10 kids under 12 is going to bring a different atmosphere to your wedding.

Re: Anyone inviting children?

We're inviting children. I honestly didn't want to cause unneccessary drama with either of our families. I know a lot of people prefer not to have children, because younger kids can act inappropriately for such an occasion, but DH and I are already married, so if a baby cries during the ceremony or a child screams, it's not going to ruin it for us and if the kids are acting up at the reception, I honestly doubt we'll notice. Everybody will be too busy dancing and having a good time to let it bother them.

I am having the kids that are special in my and FH life to come (nieces, & god children) other than that, no kids...too much $$ and too much hassle

that said, if I did have certain kids there and anyone had anything to say, I would explain that- up and down the list, you invite people YOU want with you and that's that.

Re: Anyone inviting children?

We're inviting about 17 kids. We're leaving it up to the parents whether they want to bring them or not. I personally love kids and I think it would be a lot of to have them there. Although I only expect about half of them to come, since most of their parents prob want the night away to enjoy themselves without their kids. I def. dont think that they would ruin the wedding - they're part of our family

Re: Anyone inviting children?

I have been going back and forth about this for months. I have finally decided that I'm not having children at my wedding except for my niece and nephew who are in the wedding. I would love to have my younger cousins there, but I feel 24 would be toooo many. Besides the money factor, i know a lot of my cousins want to enjoy themselves without their kids. They are also so young, most of them are 2-7yrs old and the ch doesn't start till 8:30 which is late for them.
I think if you have a 15 yr old u want to come just sent an age limit. I would do that if i could.

Re: Anyone inviting children?

I'm the oldest of about 28 grandchildren and I always told FH they would be invited to our wedding. It just wouldn't be my wedding if I didn't have my first cousins there. So, we've got about 12 under the age of 12 and the rest are mid-teens. It gets pricey because our venue only does half price for kids 5-12, but I want them there. I think kids make it fun!
