Anyone know how long it takes for your marriage license to arrive in the mail?

Anyone know how long it takes for your marriage license to arrive in the mail?

I know that my priest needs to mail something in to the state, and then we get the official document in the mail, but how long does it take?

Also, I've heard it's smart to get official copies because it helps to have multiple copies when changing your name...Anyone know how to do that?

Your marriage license you get when you apply for it. Your marriage certificate you get in the mail about 4-6 weeks after your wedding.

You can request extra copies of your marriage certificate from your local town hall.

Ours took 13 days to come back. I only got that copy and changed my name everywhere yesterday.

Ours came back very quickly, maybe about 2 weeks.

we got married on LI and received the marriage license within 2 weeks - we also live in boston

for some reason (ok, i know why but whatever) my license came in the mail to jersey five days after i got married. but i heard that it was usually a couple of weeks.

i'm changing my name now and i'm just using copies for some things. social security didn't even make a copy.

Mine took a month and a half because it wasn't filled out properly by tthe officiant. Make sure it is complete or it can be held up and therefore everything else is too!

Ours was in the truckload of mail we had held at the post office that we picked up today. It was dated 4/7/06 so it was mailed in by the minister, processed and mailed back to us within a week after the wedding

but when u do change your name over, u need the original. u can't bring a copy. we tried that with the bank. the rabbi sent us a copy before he mailed it in.
