WE are just recently engaged and we were looking for something different and fun. We are considering Atlantis Marine World.

Have anyone booked there? had there wedding there? attended a wedding?

Any advice or information is appreciated...

THANKS!

Re: Atlantis Marine World

We walked in their and could not stand the fishy smell. The idea is different but YUCK!!! You should look into one of the Vineyards or a Mansion setting if you want to do something different. Check out the Vineyard Caterers, beautiful and reasonable prices it is in Aquebogue not far from Riverhead.

Re: Atlantis Marine World

hellooooooo! i am getting married at Atlantis 7/7/06. i am very excited to marry there, its so beautiful and unique. as far as the fishy smell mentioned above, there is a water/fish smell when you first walk in (there is a open pond with stinrays in the lobby area) you don't smell it after like 5 minutes! tom, our banquet manager, is extremely nice and easy to work with. they set up the tables near the tanks in the main area and it looks beautiful set up! the place transforms from a public aquarium to an intimate formal affair, its amazing. if you are at all interested, go meet with tom and see them set up for an event to get the real feel. another plus about having it there is you do not have to go all out for flowers bc you need very minimal decoration, the place is way beautiful enough. if you have an questions at all, FM me, i love talking about atlantis to anyone who will listen lol. best of luck~lacey

Re: Atlantis Marine World

hello. my wedding isnt until next july, but if you want some pics you can fm shamrock12472 and no stress bride, they were kind enough to send me some pics and share some info. the dance floor is right after the bridge and near the waterfall, there is an open area that extends before you enter the main part with the tanks (you have to see it set up for full effect, they'll show you video too when you go). i have a 75 min for a fri night (i think thats as low as they go and min is higher for a sat). you can have your ceremony indoor or outdoor, coctail hour can be indoor or indoor/outdoor (cool option). def check it out, call and make an appt w/tom and he'll show you everything. its hard to visualize. good luck ~lacey

my FSIL was married there last year (her LIW screen name is nostressbride). The wedding was great and it was really cool to be surrounded by the tanks and everything.

Re: Atlantis Marine World

I think we are leaning towards having it there... The more we talk about it. lol

It is just hard to imagine everything... so that is why I was looking for pics etc.

I have only heard of the 2 brides on this board who have had their wedding there... I have not heard of anyone else. And I am having no luck finding additional info or pictures on the web.

Thanks everyone for the posts! keep em coming

Re: Atlantis Marine World

I got married there last September and loved it. I still have people tell me how much fun they had. As for the 'fishy' smell...once the rooms are cleaned and set up...there isn't any fishy smell.

The food was fabulous...much better then expected as was the service. Here's a link to my review if you want.

Re: Atlantis Marine World

No offense at all to everyone else. I am sure your weddings were and are going to be beautiful. It is just that my initial impression was not good but again I didn't give it a chance. Anyway, good luck with where ever you decide to book.

off topic...but i'm surprised you consider vineyard 'reasonable' in prices. they wanted over $140 for a SUNDAY day wedding.

Re: Atlantis Marine World

its extremely hard to imagine it without seeing it atleast on the video, best is to watch them set up! definnitely call them and make an appt. you'll prob have to leave a msg, but they'll get back to you right away (once you book you'll just use your bm's cell # for direct contact, bc they are always runnig aroud).

i searched for more info and pics on the web before i booked, but i couldn't find anything either. you have to go and see for yourself!

also, something to keep in mind if you are budget conscious like i am...their sit down dinner was way outta my price range, so i opted for buffet. this is the only venue i would do that for, bc the buffet line actually goes through the shark tunnel (how cool is that), so they get to explore while they move along on line). if you have more than 100 people they'll set up 2 buffet stations. so to give you an idea on price, we are paying $95 pp (not incl tax and grat) for 6 cold items, veg crudite, 15 hot hor d's passed butler style, champagne toast and greeting (they are handed champagne in the lobby upon entering, has strawberry on glass edge and candles everywhere), 1 choice salad, choice of 4 hot cafing dishes, choise of 2 carvings, 1starch, 1 veg, beautiful shell cake (they make such beautiful cakes with chocolate shells that look so real), choice of dessert, espresso and cappacino and cordial bar, unlimited top shelf liquor, valet included, ceremony location $500 extra. i think for this venue, you pay for the atmosphere more than an abundance of food, but i am very happy with that! please let me know if you have any questions, as you can se i loooooooove talking about atlantis! ~lacey

Re: Atlantis Marine World

We looked there and loved the scenery and the outside area. We didn't wind up booking there because of the fishy smell, but I am super smell sensitive. The smell does go away as you enter the aquarium but I just couldn't do it.

Re: Atlantis Marine World

I am really surprised that they quoted you $140 per head. That is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!

We are not paying that!! I am getting married on a Sunday and Mothers Day, I asked about other Sundays. I don't know maybe their prices went up.
