I was hoping someone could help me. I am having my wedding at the Metropolitan in April and am trying to decide what to do during cocktail hour - stations vs. passed food
Has anybody been to or had any weddings there? If so, can you please pass on your experiences and opinions

I got married there in Nov. The stations are much better, but you are limited for space. We ended up doing 6 stations and the seafood bar (a must!!) and 4 passed. Hope this helps.

That really helped. How many people did you have? Was the cocktail hour upstairs or downstairs?
We are having about 150 people - they told us that with that many people, we should only do the seafood bar and 2 stations (we are having it upstairs)

We had 145 people. There was enough room. We had the cocktail hour upstairs as well. No one eats the passed food. I think it is a nice touch, but I think people enjoy the stations better.

That's great! No more nightmares for you! Did he do exactly what was in picture or did he do his own thing? How did you find him?

Sorry Lisa, I really don't remember which stations we had. I do remember that we chose the sea bass, the salmon and the filet and entree options. We opted to not serve chicken b/c it is so common. All were amazing. The cake was ok, but the truffles, cookies and chocolate covered strawberries definitely were a hit. You will have plenty of room for all the stations you want. Make them figure it out and they will. there was definitely enough room on the dancefloor. You absolutely have NOTHING to worry about. Everything will be perfect. Who did yu pick as your florist? Band/DJ? Photographer?

Hi - Just to provide a slightly different perspective - we had about 125 people and did only passed, no stations. The passed food was delicious and people seemed to snap up every bit of it! So I think you should feel confident that whatever you decide will be fine - the Metropolitan has delicious food all around and you should just choose whatever you like best! Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the information - I am just about to start on flowers. I wasn't considering the flower district because of the distance. Where are you getting married? We are getting married in Deer Park and our reception is in Smithtown - I wonder if they travel out that far?

Your only 'professional' obligation is to give enough notice for days off needed for your 'honeymoon' or to arrange for coverage on your position if your job warrants it.

I have to say, I was really impressed by the thank you notes Flowers by Brian sent out after our initial meeting and after our contract signing. Both times we got them the very next day!

Of course, this was not the reason we chose them, it was just a really nice touch. We like how energetic and motivated Lisa seemed while discussing our options. I really want to work Sunflowers in, and she was coming up with all kinds of ideas of how to have Sunflowers and bring in the burgundy from the girls' dresses. She was great.
