DEPOSIT QUESTION
FI and I just got back from a DJ that we liked. When I asked about deposits he said $500 now and the balance due two weeks BEFORE the wedding. Is that normal?? I have seen other DJ's and most deposits are due the day of.The company is reputable but what if they don't show up or something happens?? They would have all my $$$.

Re: DEPOSIT QUESTION
hmm, i would have to double check, but i am pretty sure my dj requires it ahead of time as well. i was thinking reputable means its ok that he'll have our money...i hope!!! ~lacey

Re: DEPOSIT QUESTION
all of my vendors - with the exception of the hall (and is that really a vendor?) - asked for the $$$ the day of. but my band was the best - he won't collect $ until AFTER the reception to ensure that we are pleased with the entertainment. i'm not sure what he does if we don't like it though.

Re: DEPOSIT QUESTION
I don't remember when my dj said the $$ was due, but we paid it a week or 2 before the wedding when we had our final meeting.

Re: DEPOSIT QUESTION
wow... $500 is high for a DJ deposit, IMO.we had to give our DJ $100 and the balance was due on the day of the wedding in cash.
