Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
My parents gave my FH a gift card for his bday and he was floored I am making him write one. He said he's only had to write a thank you note ONCE in his life and that was for his Bar Mitzvah when he was 13..otherwise he believes 'a woman thing.' I guess we were raised differently because my mother always made my brother and I write thank you notes for the holidays and bdays.I know traditionally the bride writes the TY notes but his handwriting is SO much better than mine, and his family (probably) will end up outnumbering mine at the wedding. Why am I expected to write them all ?

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
For big things like weddings, FH totally believes in writing Thank you notes. For things like birthday gifts, he prefers calling the person to thank them.ETA: but, I'll probably end up writing the actual thank you notes for the wedding, and he'll just sign his name
His handwriting is awful!

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
My FH believes in having ME write his thank you notes for him
There is 0% chance he would do it on his own

He'd better start getting into the idea of it; I told him that if he doesn't write the thank yous to his guests, then they won't receive one at all.

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
I think he knows theyre necessary for the wedding, but he'll never write them.As for birthdays and holidays he's more of the get on the phone and thank the person for the gift.

I might steal that idea! I'm sure people would blame me and not him of course.

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
I'd say he's pretty good about it. Tho for the e-gifts we received I've written out the thank you cards. However, when my family gave his daughter xmas presents he had her write out TY cards to every one; he wasn't expecting them to do that and was so deeply touched. He has better hand writing then me, so I hope he'll help with the weddding TYs, at least with his side anyway!

Well, being that I ended up writing all the Engagement party Thank you's.... I have a strong feeling I will end up writing the Thank You's for the wedding...
We'll see if I can bribe him with something though.. LOL

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
Heres a little story:For my engagement party, my cousin never received her thank you card for whatever reason. To be spiteful, she didnt invite me or my FI to a 25th anniversary party she threw for her parents (My aunt).
When everyone asked where I was... She said 'Oh I mailed it out.. i dont know why she didn't get it'.. the same response I gave my aunt when she told me that my cousin never received a thank-you card.
Talk about being spiteful.
Bottom line. Whether you or your FI belive in sending out thank-you's or not.. send them anyway because someone is bound to get insulted.

I'd be careful with that idea...I posted a few days ago about my coworker who just sent out this thank you's for his guests 11 months after the wedding, while his wife did them 2 months after the wedding. And my coworker decided not to send thank you's to his coworkers because he sees us everyday.

We both are firm believers in sending them immediately. FH especially. We both write them.

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
For birthdays, FH and I both prefer to call to say thank you. Our families are fine with that. For wedding related thank yous, FH is not ALLOWED to touch them. His handwriting is horrendous (and I'm a teacher, so I REALLY can't stand that). I write them out. He puts the stamps on them and takes them to the mailbox.

My FH does believe that a Thank You card is a nice gesture but he also believes that I should write them for him!

Re: Does your FH believe in writing Thank You Notes?
I told him that if he wasn't planning on writing thank you cards then I would call everyone on his side of the family and tell them not to give a gift because FH is too lazy to write thank you cards...he believed me...it worked.Silly men.
