Great Make-up Artist and other vendors!

Just got married on May 12 and wanted to share some of the vendors that I used. First, I highly recommend my make-up artist - Amanda Lavendar (#631-893-2924) - she was great! I had my make-up done at 9am and everything stayed on well after the reception was over around 12:00am. It was also a very humid day and the make-up held out while we were outside for 2 hours taking pictures. She`s also very nice and not pushy at all and takes your opinions into account. Also my DJ was great - Espo Entertainment (516)777-3562) - very affordable and they actually played EVERYTHING I asked them to, which I find a lot of DJ`s don`t. I drove those guys crazy and they were always friendly. One florist I would use with caution is Tim`s Florist in Massapequa. I was married at the Riviera and they include the centerpieces in the price and Tim`s Florist provided the flowers. The centerpieces were nice, but they came to set up my tables at 6:45pm when the cocktail hour started at 7pm as guests were arriving! I thought this was incredibly tacky. I also paid extra to have flowers on my cake because I wanted my caketopper on the card table and they skimped on the flowers so I had to put the caketopper on the cake anyway. But, this was my biggest annoyance on my wedding day so I should consider myself lucky. Hope this helps some stressed out brides to be!

thanks for all of the advice. i'm getting married at the riviera too but not till july of 2002. do you have anything i should know about to be cautious about? any and all advice is appreicated.

Amanda is located in Babylon, but works out of a salon in Great Neck on In response to SC's question: Northern Blvd. I stayed at the Melville Marriott and I had her come to me. I'm not sure of her prices now because I booked her the year before and I think the prices went up. Also, the more you add on,(your mom, any bridesmaids) the cheaper it gets. I'd call her to get exact prices.

I really can`t think of anything that the hall did wrong. If you meet with Michelle (she just had a baby) she`s really great and helped me out a lot with ideas, etc. The maitre`d was also great because it began to rain heavily about 10 minutes before the cocktail hour started and they had to bring all of the food inside and set up again inside. Because of this we started a about 15 minutes late and they let the reception run about 20 minutes later because of that which I thought was nice of them. My only caution are the florists that they give you for the centerpieces. Tim`s florist has great flowers, but as I said before they were very late in setting up so make sure you find out who the Riviera picks to do the flowers or ask if you can go meet the choices yourself and choose. If you decide to go with Tim`s florist just make sure that they give you a specific time that they will be there to set up and exactly what you`re getting because I just assumed they would do what I picked. We also arrived at the Riviera earlier then planned and the staff was ready to serve us drinks and didn`t make us wait around. Overall their staff is very friendly, the food got rave reviews and I think you`ll be fine - congratulations!
