We started looking at places for our reception this week; went to Westbury Manor & FoxHollow which are a little out of our league.
Much better were the prices at Crest Hollow, Milleridge Cottage, Sand Castle and Jericho Terrace. Milleridge has the look we're looking for; just worried about the food selection as compared to everyone else.
We were also thinking of checking out Port Jefferson Country Club & Woodbury Country Club? Any opinions on any of these places would be appreciated.

If you want a place that is on the water, definately check out the Port Jeff CC. I think the deck that you have the cocktail hour on is beautiful how it overlooks the Sound. I fell in love with it! Comparitively, it's not that expensive, but unfortunately it was a little over my budget.

I just got married at the PJCC. The pictures in the books don't do it justice. The view is amazing. The cocktail hour is out on the deck, the food is great, and your the only wedding. And the prices aren't way out there. It is worth the trip to go check them out. (the have a website too)

Try http://www.millerplaceinn.com That is where Natalia and I having ours next May. It is very near the area you're looking (Port Jeff) and it is fairly reasonable. We chose it because 1)ours is the only wedding, 2)the food is supposed to be awesome, and 3)they were just nice people...none of the overbearing sales stuff. Good luck.
I am getting married at Crest Hollow Country Club and am looking for a florist. Does anyone know anything about Fleurs de Florissima (Florissima Designers) or Simply Elegant? Thanks.

The food at the Millerridge Cottage is outstanding. If you are hesitating because of the food, you can eliminate that reason! I was just there July 9th and it was great!. Good luck with everything. Kat
I am getting married in November and looking at limos. Who is everyone using?
1) purchased all paper (invite, response card and thank yous) and envelopes from a paper factory in Nepal (I travel there often for work and they make incredible hand made paper and it is incredibly cheap!)

I heard great things about Milleredge ! Dont give it a second thought !! Some other good places I've heard of on the water are Lands End, John Anthonys... It really depends on what your top priorities are, food, atmosphere, price...
Good Luck !

Not to throw another place at you but try TimberPoint Country Club in Great River (Islip) it is a golf course on the Great South Bay. It is beautiful and I thought inexpensive. For a Saturday night in October I am paying $80p/p. And that includes centerpieces, cake, linens etc. Lessings who does their catering has been around for years and I researched and checked with brides who had their weddings there and no complaints at all. Give it a try!!
Paper Direct warns that some of the trancelucent papers cannot be used with an inkjet (not porous enough - the ink would smear) Other than that, ink jet should be fine as long as you don't go too far in the other direction. Soft handmade papers may bleed the ink. I use an inkjet to print cards on the greeting card stock you can get from office supply stores and they look good.
1. cake (ordered last week!) 2. tuxes (scheduled to go with fiance tomorrow night) 3. registering (almost done!) 4. rings (still need to pick them out and haven them engraved) 5. sending out invites (next week!!!) 6. finding undergarments and shoes for my first fitting next week 7. picking out favors 8. thinking about seating charts 9. scheduling appointments for hair and makeup trials 10. having lots of fun with my fiance and NOT stressing about the planning!!!!

Any negatives at the cottage when you were there? did you notice the centerpieces? was their seating in your cocktail hour ? I have heard they do it both ways? any info would be great Laura
having grown up in bayport, i can field this question.. blue point is on the south shore of suffolk county..at the end of nicholles road (which is exit 62 off the lie). its about midpoint between the city and the hamptons. hope this helps. as for cory beach, i haven't been there in ages (since hs!) so i don't know how nice it is these days..i do know that the beach down the road from my parents (bayport beach) has no sand left because of erosion. good luck in your search for a beach. there are some nice ones on the north shore too.. port jefferson/east setauket area. -leighann

That is so funny but that is the only part of the cottage that I do not like and my Fiance makes fun of me for it-- i made him promise that we would stay as far away from it as possible-- I don't know if you would be interested but I have about 10 pictures of the cottage on our web site--- www.laurajeremy.homestead.com/home.html click on the big day-- it takes a few minutes for the slide show to load but it walks you thru most of the cottage let me know what you think Laura
All I have to say is the woman at Rabenko is RUDE!!! i called to cancel the appt. and she was giving me the third degree why i didn't want to reschedule. And she was very rude about it. And if she thinks I'd call back after the treatment i received, shes mistaken. She just made my decision easier to make.

Laura-
At least it's not in the line of sight. I guess it ties into their history of being around since the 1800's.. I think I did try to view your pics before and didn't get them to load, I was probably impatient...I'm going to try again now. Thanks. This was my third visit since we booked and each time I have been very pleased with what I saw going on there. We are going to go for a tasting in November or even January so the food is fresh in our mind when we pick the menu. How are your plans otherwise??
How do you decide?
I am going for a tasting at the Cottage today; he wants to try food before we book. Will let you know how it went.
When you go to DMV to change your license & registration, you'll need new insurance cards for your new name to change the registration, so visit your insurance broker before DMV. You will need your marriage license to change your insurance info. (I wound up making two trips to DMV to change my info.) You may want to check with both (yours & new husband/wife) insurance companies to see what the rates would be to insure both cars since most have lower rates if your married, and you may be able to get a multi-car discount. Just a word of caution, if one of you has a bad driving record, it may be cheaper to keep two separate insurance policies on the vehicles.
You also may want to notify the credit reporting agencies - Experian, Trans union, and Equifax. All three are on-line and you can get the info there.

Well, we went for our tasting at the Milleridge today; the food was outstanding. It definitely helped us to decide that this is "the place".
We aren't getting married until April 2002, but do not want to wait to book site, as we have heard that prices are going up soon and we also don't want to run the risk of not having date available.
If anyone wants any details on tasting, let me know.

I've to a wedding at the Woodbury CC and I wasn't crazy about the food. Some of it was cold. But I think this happens a lot. I'm having mine at The Coral House in Baldwin. The food was great and the price is too!! Has anyone heard anything bad about the Coral House. I know it's too late because I'm getting married 12/2. But I would still like to know what to look out for.
yes. it's www.themeadowclub.com. thanks for the feedback.
I think you are pretty lucky. If you want i will provide the service you required for the $350.00 round trip..Gratuity extra. I would rather we work for less money and make friends..

We also just booked our date at the Coral House, 2/17/01. No one could beat their prices, especially for a Saturday night reception. Kristen has been extremely helpful with all my questions, dilemmas, etc etc. Sepecially since we are planning the entire shindig from California. My fiance will see the site in September, but other than that, we will do all the arrangements from here. The Coral House staff have been wonderful to deal with, and that was one of the most important things to us. Best Wishes, Heather Dawn
Since we have been doing this by email, it's kind of hard to get anyone interested in us (we have found) but some stood out. I am listing the places we checked below:

I'm glad to hear the good news. Heather Dawn...have you checked the website for the Coral House? You can see some shots of the rooms they have. They always show the back of the building which doesn't do it justice!!! I got the Americana Room for just guaranteeing 175 people. I couldn't believe it!!! Some places with rooms tha big wanted me to guarantee 230 people. The Coral House will recommend a florist, but I found cheaper. The only thing is...if you don't get your bouquets from them you can't have an upgrade for centerpieces. It would cost me $10-$15 to have pointsettas for my December wedding. They would give me spider mums and carnations in red and white colors. BLAH!! but I still have some time to come up with something. Any questions or help with Coral House just email me at [email protected] I'd be happy to help! LOL
Ann-Marie are you going to go next week to meet at Fridays.

Kristen sent us an entire pkg, pics and all, of the Coral House & the different rooms. We are having the Skylight Room since we are having a smaller recepetion, 100 people. It's absolutely beautiful. Kristin is even working on finding us a church in the area!!If you could reccomend or give opinions on any florists in the area, it would be much appreciated. Thanks! Heather Dawn
Z100 then opened the phone lines and many men and women said they would also invoice. Only 2 said they would not. I'd never heard of such a thing before...and we had 5 no shows (of a total 90 guests expected)! My personal philosophy (with any financial matter) is spend no more than you can afford....in this case, even if it means a smaller wedding....again, my personal opinion....
