If you are having kids at your reception.....
If you are inviting children to your reception, is there a cutoff age, meaning are you only including children over the age of 4 or 5 & if so how are you letting the parents of the really young ones know that you would rather them not bring the toddlers?

Re: If you are having kids at your reception.....
we actually have a lot of children coming to the reception and there is no age limit..we are setting up a child's table and one of my friends sister is going to be in charge of the table. she will be bringing a friend with her. i'm going to set up the table with coloring books and cookies and fun stuff for them to do..i'm sure the parents will be involved also but for the most part she will keep them busy..

I would love to set an age limit, but I cannot. The children we are inviting to the wedding are FH's second cousins and they range in age from 1-11.

We're having a specific group of children - nieces and nephews only. So the ages range from 3 1/2 to 14. I have a million cousins in that age range that are not invited but we did it by groups. Anyone that's not a niece or nephew is not invited unless they're 18.

Nope. Anyone and everyone is invited, no matter the age.

Same here...no age limit...just the expectation that their parents will watch them as best as possible.

We invited a lot of kids all ages. The youngest we had there was age 7. People that had kids younger than 7 found a babysitter and left them home so they could have a good time!!

We are not having an age limit, we are inviting my nieces and nephews-ages 1-11, then my cousins from out of town are welcome to bring their children...everyone here with kids though I think understand that the children are really not invited...otherwise we would have more kids than adults at my reception...lol...lots of kids in my family!!

Re: If you are having kids at your reception.....
Wow! You guys are all making me feel so bad now that we are not having any kids! All of our friends and most of my cousins have young kids that we decided to make it adults only. I am having my 2 nephews as ring bearers so they are more than welcome to stay if they are able to. My sister hired 2 babysitters (who are doing it for free as a gift
) so as each kid gets tired, off to the hotel they go. The babysitters are actually my older nephew's pre-school teacher and her daughter so they know both kids very well. Our ceremony starts at 8:30 PM so I just do not want all the parents to be chasing after screaming kids all night. We want everyone to just enjoy themselves. Also, like Joelle, we would have more children than adults there lol!!

We're having kids, but probably only three of them will come. My FH's sister has a 4 year old and a what will be a 4 month old coming (he'll still be breast feeding so we don't have a choice) and 1 of my cousins is 10. No one else really has any kids....some cousins have children but we aren't inviting them.

Don't feel bad. It's a long day for toddlers. My FH's nieces will be leaving after cocktail hour with a babysitter. My brother is opting not to bring his toddler.Welcome New Vendors
