I called the company that I have my car insurance with (they also do home, life, etc..) and I got a FLOATER to insure my ring.
I was not going to walk around without it insured and now I feel so much better.
What is a floater?

Re: Insurance for your engagement ring
I have a separate policy with Chubb on my E-ring. It covers all kinds of loss in all countries, so I would be fully compensated if anything were to happen.

we also have jewlers mutual. My MOH's dad is a jewler and said to get a seperate jewlery insurance because other insurance companies won't give you the full value, this one is much better.

she told me the particulars once, but i forgot, i'll ask her again.
basically, i think it's because they don't know the real value or something.
All i know is that he insisted we insure it under jewlers mutual.
