Just Booked Photographer

I just came home from signing the contract with the photographer and what a fiasco that was. Is there anyone else that thinks the prices are outrageous? We are using Cassarino Studios, 2 photographers and 1 video is costing approx. $6,000.00. Then if you want to have special effects and 2 pictures on a page that will be an extra charge when I pick the album design. It`s outrageous!

I didn't even think about booking a videographer and got a really small pkg w/ my photographer b/c i already knew how riduculous the prices could get. I have heard great things about Cassarino, good choice.

oh yeah...

..i was shocked when I first started looking. I visited a reputatable studio that was given rave reviews on this board, and was quoted a high price. When I told him I wasn`t expecting to pay that much, he 'suggested I re-evaluate my wedding budget'! I`m sorry - even if we was the best one around, I wouldn`t book him just on principle alone! Turns out his price was in the norm for this area, but no one needs that attitude! Anyway, back to your point - yes, I agree that the prices on LI are outrageous!!

good photographer

my best friend had susan francy for her photographer. I have not seen her name pop up here, but she was excellent and from what I'm reading affordable. she has a website where you can view her portfolio/prices, i think its susanfrancyphotographs.com. good luck!

ss2002

We hired this fantastic photographer named Jack Roman. He only does black and white (very documentary) style work, but he does arrange for a color photographer to be there for the family portraits. I don't know if you are interested in that type of thing. My FH is a photographer so he is very picky about the artistic nature of all this. We aren't getting a book done becuase quite honestly, we can do that a year from the wedding when we have a little more cash flow. We havent' finalized a price with Jack yet, but I know it's going to be a whole lot less than the other work we saw. Let me know if you'd like his info.

Cassarino

sp4747, I had Cassarino for my wedding in October (photography only, I used T&T Video). Did you book with the one in Whitestone or Mineola? I booked in Mineola and my photographer was George S. -- ask for him, he was fantastic! He took really nice shots and was the nicest guy to deal with. My proofs came out really good and it was a very hard choice trying to pick our album and the portrait (we went back 3 times). I agree with you that the prices are out of control (as is everything else wedding-related) and when you go to do your album, you'll end up spending even more money because you want every single picture!! We ended up shelling out another $1,000 on top of the $3,000 we had originially paid. And, please don't do what my darling hubby did, don't get a 30x30 portrait of the two of you!! Not for nothing, but we should've just gotten a billboard on the LIE. A 20x24 is big enough, in my opinion, but not according to my husband. You'll be happy with your choice!

Choice for Photographer

I went to the studio in Mineola. They are recommended by the Fox Hollow (where our wedding is). After going to 4 different studios we thought they had the best prices for what we wanted and the photojournalistic photographer is only $750.00 compared to other places that charge $1,750.00. He shoots in black and white, which we also wanted alot of in the albulm.
