Looking for a house....!

All of a sudden FI came home the other day INTENT on buying a house! We're 2 weeks away from the wedding and he's trekking all over LI at open houses and appointments!

Anyway - he found something he likes in Levittown. Does anyone know anything about the area - schools, community, etc? It's on the south side on Hempstead Tpke, just east of the Wantagh Pkwy. I think they said Macarthur school? I went to private school all my life and am not familiar with the area?

Any thoughts, insight would be a tremendous help! Thanks!

Re: Looking for a house....!

I went to macArthur and it is not bad. I think the south side of Hepmstead Turnpike is much nicer than the north side. North side is Division High School and I am not sure about it. I know that everyone from MacArthur hated everyone from Division and vice versa...

The elementary schools are great... Salk was great too. MacArthur, when I went there, was fine. I am not sure about it now. It has students who live in Levittown (South), Seaford, and Wantagh and all of those towns are fine..I never hear anything bad about it

Re: Looking for a house....!

My sister is a teacher at Wisdon Lane Middle school. If that's where you're looking at, I can get more information from her.

Re: Looking for a house....!

I live in Levittown, but moved hereafter high school. My sister graduated from Salk and MacArthur, both were great schools. Levittown is a nice area b/c it is close to practically everything. It is centrally located and there is lots of shopping!!!

Re: Looking for a house....!

No advice though I went through the same thing as you, we signed the contract on our house 3 DAYS before our wedding (which was two weeks ago yesterday) so we were doing everything at once, too. I'm still exhausted!
Good luck!

Re: Looking for a house....!

Mary,

LMAO - 'Total Woman' Yes, my sister is a SHA grad as well (but I think the Total Woman image left when Sr. Kathy left around 1987-1988). Let me know if you pursue, she can tell me a lot about the students she has…..

Trish
