My shower was today... so why.....

Why do I feel bummed? I had a good time but it felt so rushed and it went by soooo quickly. It really was beautiful but I guess I felt a bit disconnected since things were moving so fast. I think that I'm a bit sad that it came and went already. Ughh, I can't imagine what I'll feel like when the wedding has come and gone. Did anyone else feel this way?

I find that happens to me a lot when I am the center of attention. I feel I have to talk to everyone or you are rushed to open gifts and then it goes by too fast. I am making sure I relax and and enjoy the wedding- that is why I am getting a DOC

I have a DOC for the wedding. I want to enjoy my wedding and not be bothered w/the little things.

Yeah, I know that is why I am doing it too. I felt the same way you did at the engagement party. I dont want anyone in my family to worry about the little things at the wedding either. I think I am going to be so glad that I got a DOC.

I felt the same way at my engagement party. That's why we decided to add a half hour to the cocktail hour and get a DOC for the wedding. Plus, the church and reception are spaced out a bit, so we can absorb more... I hope. AND I'm planning on keeping the party going back at the hotel bar. I don't want my wedding day to end! . That's why I think it's SO good to do an engagement party... besides the fun of the party, you learn a lot for the actual wedding day!

Congratulations on your shower! Remember... you still have your bachelorette party, your rehearsal dinner, your wedding day , your honeymoon, and your life together with your new husband!!! This is a GREAT time! Enjoy it!

aww, everyone wrote really nice things and they are so true!! i think sarah really did nail it on the head and put it into perspective and i think jenn was correct also that you do tend to feel bummed. but, from what i've seen and heard, that feeling is completely normal and felt by a lot of brides.
it's hard when you are the center of attention like jenn said b/c you have SO much to do with talking to people, worrying about details, opening gifts-- that it's hard to actually sit back, take a breathe, and say WOW i'm at my (whatever it may be) party or i'm at my wedding!
i am afraid i'm going to feel like that after my engagement party--that's why i'm trying to keep the details simple and get all the big stuff out of the way and stay organized... i'm so happy we are having it at a place now instead of the house/yard b/c that's so much less to worry about so i can focus more on the party and enjoying my time with my FH and our guests.
my e-party will be the FIRST party where I have ever been the reason people were there or the center of attention!! I never had a sweet 16, i never had a graduation party except just a family dinner or something at our house, i never had a big 21st birthday or something like that--so i really want to relish the moments where it's my moment to have a good time... i think you are TOTALLY normal for wanting that and then missing it when it goes by in a flash!!
The DOC will help you a lot to minimize the craziness and just have a glass of wine or two and enjoy your big day (and all the other stuff you have coming before the big day) SO much!!!
--then afterwards, like sarah said, you have your HM, pictures!!, and then the rest of your life--kids, etc!! SO much to look forward to.
i try so hard not to always think about the NEXT thing and live in the moment b/c otherwise you aren't really enjoying the moment but always looking forward.
hope all that stuff help--kinda long, lol!!

Danielle, that was soooo helpful. You are making a good move by having your E-party in a venue. I had mine at my sisters house and although it was beautiful it was also overwhelming. I never had a sweet 16 or graduation party either so my E-party was the 1st time that I was the center of attention w/so many guests. You have a great attitude and I hope you truly enjoy all of your planning and celebrations

DOC??? What's a DOC and why do I all of a sudden feel like I need one??? lol My sister just got married last year and it FLEW by and I'm afraid that's gonna happen to me next year at my wedding. We got the vienesse hour so that we'll have that extra time, but what's this DOC that a bunch of you have mentioned??

Day of Coordinator- She is there from the beginning to the end of your day making sure everything runs smoothly and all the pics you want are taken and many other things too!

I felt the same way - even though I had 2 showers. it all goes fast - especially the wedding. so be sure and soak it ALL in!

Is a DOC a wedding coordinator? I dont have one of those...but I feel like I need one after reading this...
Can you hire one only for that day? Isnt that the bridal assistant?
