NWR: BC Pills

Hello - just wondering if anyone has had this same experience - has anyone missed periods while on the pill? I don't know what this means. I know I'm not prego (that's for certain) - so, any other idea about the cause of a missed period? I religiously take the pill, but this is my second month with no cycle. I am also talking to my dr., but everything I find online says 'pregnant', which is definitely not the case. I'm also going to take this down after I get some responses, but TIA.

Re: NWR: BC Pills

Hey, this happened to me as well, what pill are you on? Loestrin, if thats the one you are using, sometimes makes you skip periods.

Re: NWR: BC Pills

I've had really really light periods like 2 days of light staining. The Dr. told me it happens occasionally since when you're on the pill you never have a 'True Period' I don't think it's anything to really worry about as long as you know you're not pregnant. If you're really freaked out maybe switch to a different pill?

Re: NWR: BC Pills

I'm on Femcon, which is also a low-dose pill.

I'm also always under a lot of stress with work, school and planning this wedding . . . so I usually chalk it up to that. But, with that said, I've always had irregular periods, really long cycles, etc. The pill was working, but now I've skipped it twice. Just makes me nervous

Re: NWR: BC Pills

It's very possible this happened just b/c you're on the pill and it makes your period lighter, in general. More likely than not, nothing is wrong wtih you. Since it happened 2 months in a row, though, you can call your dr for piece of mind.

Re: NWR: BC Pills

yea this can happen!!! freaked me out the first time. stress also plays a role- even if you arent on the pill. Dont worry, but even though you know you arent, take a test to make sure, thats what i did. my doc said to take a home test the day before i would start a new pack.

Re: NWR: BC Pills

Happened to me when I first went on the pill. My dr. switched the pill to a lower dose one and it was fine.

hey...im currently going through this 'freak out' time right now, cuz i was taking Loestrin for however long, and barely bleeding AT ALL, like i would for an hour on one day or something, but this past time i didn't get it at all...so now ive been stressing all month im back on Ortho Tri Cyclen cuz i just cant deal with not getting my period...i like to know that im not pregnant every month by actually getting it...

but i have 2 more weeks until my next scheduled period....so im keeping my fingers crossed!!!

hopefully it's just the pill that makes this happen though?? it seems thats what everyones saying

Re: NWR: BC Pills

you may have to change your pill.... Im on my 3rd cycle of Ortho tri Cyclen Lo and I have noticed that I have been getting my period when I am on the last 4 active pills. I will try it for one more month and then if the same happens I am going to change it.....I should not even take it bc honestly i get less action now then ever (TMI) however I want to be on the safe side...saving babies for 3-4 years from now def.

Re: NWR: BC Pills

Soooooo, I will ask my doc for sure, but do I need to be on a stronger or lower-dose pill in order to get my period? I'm just so stumped!

ETA: I'm so happy to see this happens to so many people and its not just me. Thanks ladies. Hopefully we won't be on the LIFamilies boards until we are ready to be!!

my obgyn actually told me that taking Loestrin for a while will make you skip periods. I haven't gotten mine for the past 3 months. She says that it's fine.

Re: NWR: BC Pills

Have you been on the same one for a long time? I had the same thing, skipped two months in a row and couldn't figure out what was going on. The Dr. said that sometimes when you are on the same one for a long time it just stops working correctly. She put me on a new one and problem solved! hth

I take Femcon too and I've forgotten to take them or take them hours late and never skipped a period...
