OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

Good and Bad points.

Who did you cruise with and where?

We're trying to decide...and how long is too long to be on a cruise?
I want to go for 11 nights, but is that too long to be on the ship? PLEASE HELP!!

Thank you!

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

i think 11 days is over doing it... prehaps what you can do is spend some time (before or after) at the port your leaving or coming back to for a few days..

we spend 3 days in san juan, then 7 day cruise to crabbiean. each island takes its' toll imo becuase they are similar to some point.

i recommend princess and cruise one (vendor here)

my review has a more detailed look at my cruise and i posted vendor feedback for cruise one.

if you have any detailed questions, feel free to ask

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

we did the 11 night one to the southern carribbean on norwegian dawn and 11 days wasnt too much - it gave us time to enjoy not only the islands but things on the boat itself - if you can afford the 11 day one i say go for it - just remember to bring lots of film :)

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

i can imgine how much 11 days will cost (dont forget, you have to pay tip and for drinks while on the boat) it adds up quickly!!
i would budget an extra approx 1000 to spend on board just for tips, drinks and things that can get charged on the boat

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

you should think an extra 1200 for extras not included in the fare - like shore excursions, drinks ( remember liquor is not included in fares) , photos, tips for the crew ( waiters and assistants, cabin steward, butlers, consierge...) it adds up pretty quickly.

i didnt mean to offend with the if you can afford it thing - just trying to be honest - it isnt cheap - we spent probably 9,000 on our cruise including all the extras. we also stayed in the honeymoon suite on the 10th deck ( which was too expensive, but we figured it was a once in a lifetime thing )

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

We went on a 10 day cruise in French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, etc) and stayed 3 nights before at an overwater bungalo in Moorea. It wasn't long enough! We made great frinds on the ship and if we didn't have to come back to work, would have probably extended for another cruise!! I think it really depends on where you are going and how long you are able to take for your HM. We were fortunate enough to be able to take 3 weeks, some people can't take that long.
We went on the Tahitian Princess and now all we want is to take cruises! We loved that the Tahitian Princess isn't one of the bigger ships. It was just perfect! Not too big, but also not too small. There was always something to do on the ship and the excursians were great.
One little recommendation about the liquor... buy a few bottles at the duty free shop when you get to the airport. You can mix anything with soda! On Princess (not sure if all cruise lines do this), you can buy a sticker that entitles you to unlimited sodas thoughout the cruise. We would go to the bar, get a few sodas then go tot the room. Granted, we often bought drinks at the bar too since it was more convenient, but we saved a lot of money!

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

We did 7 days on the Golden Princess to the southern caribbean and 5 nights in Nevis first and then one night in PR before the cruise.
We went to St. Lucia, St. Maarten, Barbados, St. Thomas and Antigua. It was a great way to break it up, we loved half land/half sea.

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

we did a 7 day that was extended into 9 b/c of Hurricane Jeanne. It was great! DH was to long he wanted to go home by the 8th day. I thought 7 was enough and very very affordable. I feel that there is a point in time on the HM when you just want to go home and see pics, and talk to people about the wedding especially if you leave the morning after the wedding!

just a note alot of the larger cruise liners wont let you keep bottles in your room - they let you buy the stuff and they hold it till the end of the cruise - so this wont work on all the lines.

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

We're thinking of a Mediterranean cruise & then Ireland for 5-6 days...

Anyone go on a Mediterranean Cruise?

It's 12 nights....I'm wondering if that is too long (but it goes to so many wonderful ports).

Re: OK Newly Weds Tell me about your Cruise Honeymoons!!

We cruised with Royal Carribean, Adventures of the Seas---We went through Dawn from Cruise one

It was AMAZING!! We booked another one for NOvember.. In my opinion there is no other way to go..

We were afraid, because it was our first cruise, and we didn't know if we would enjoy it.. We wouldn't have had it any other way.. Everything is done for you.. The only thing you have do is get yourself dressed.

The food/dinner/snacking/drinks, were AMAZING.. I've never eaten that good for 7 days all good... The pools were never too busy, the islands were gorgeous..

Anywya, enough raving, but IMO, it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

We went Southern Caribean, for 7 nights
