My e-party pics were taken by the owner--I didn't tip him.

As a business owner, I would have to say if he goes above and beyond what's expected, I would consider tipping him. I don't think it's mandatory though. HTH!

I've heard you don't tip the owners, but photographers you can be extra 'nice' to since you aren't done with them after the big day... they have your album in their hands...

No you never tip the owner. I am a waitress and I know all about it and I tip everyone above and beyond even they guy who laid out my carpet haha. Its actually very rude for an owner to accept a tip. You can still offer but they should never accept!

Re: Photog question...tip the owner if the owner is shooting?
I disagree - it is NOT rude for owners to accept tips. Praise and tips for a job well done is great. My mom owned a beauty salon and my DH also owns his own business so I do know about this. It is generally accepted that you do not have to tip them because as owners, they derive all the profit, whereas if you work for an owner, you do not. We tipped all our vendors on our wedding day to say thank you for all their hard work. I tip our babysitter and she works for herself and I also tip our cleaning lady. It is really up to you. Owners will not be surprised to not get tips but if you really like their work or service and want to tip them, go for it.

If you are happy with the service give a tip. Most owners will not take it but it doesn't hurt to offer.

my videographer and his photographer was the owner...i did not tip... not sure if that's cheap or not... but it's a small studio, so i know they're the ones getting the money anyway.

We had the owner shoot our wedding and we didn't give a tip, but we did give a tip to the assistant and the videographer.
