QOTD: Friday

HAPPY Friday!!!

I am so happy its Friday I don't know what to do! Even thought the weekend flies by, I am looking forward to taking sometime to relax!

Today's question is one we have shared in the past, but we have had many new 09ers join since it was last asked:

Whats your Budget? Have you had you had to change the budget since you set it? Are you and FH paying for the wedding or are your Parents?

If you feel uncomfortable answering those:

What do you think the average Long Island Wedding Costs?

Our budget was set at 20,000. But after we started booking and paying for stuff we raised it to 25,000. However, I see it increasing to 30,000. Me and FH are paying it ourselves, with a little help from our families along the way.

I think that 25,000-30,000 is about average for an Long Island Wedding.

Re: QOTD: Friday

i dont really have an exact budget. my parents are paying for it, and fh and i are helping with whatever we can.. but its pretty much all on my parents. they didnt give me a budget, but they also told me that they cant afford a 40,000 wedding. right now im trying to keep everything under 25,000/30,000 because i think thats what my mom is aiming for.

Re: QOTD: Friday

This is soooo bad to say, but I don't really have a set budget right now. I know that originally I wanted the budget to be $30,000 because that is what my parents and his parents are contributing together. But after doing some research, I believe that FH and I will have to put some of our own money in...which is fine...I just have to start saving!!!! I think now our budget will ideally be $35,000, likely be $40,000.

I think a typical Long Island budget is $40,000. More where I come from... a lot of girls from my town have like $100,000 weddings...must be nice!

Re: QOTD: Friday

Ummm I am afraid to answer this question but I have been saving for my wedding since I started working at age 16 and my parents are paying for half of the reception. I am having nearly 300 guests so my budget right now is 60k-70k - only b/c my family is so big.

Re: QOTD: Friday

before we got engaged i said i wanted to spend now more than $25K
however, once we got engaged and i actually started researching/booking, i came to the harsh realization that we will be spending about $40K

if i had to guess i would say the average LI wedding costs btwn $30-40K.

Re: QOTD: Friday

Our budget depends on who fh wants to invite. I originally told him I wanted it to be 15,000, and he started at 45,000. He has since seen my point (destination weddings cost less and you get more outo f it) and I guess we will see from there.

We are paying for the wedding. We hav enough saved but I also want to put into consideration whether or not my school closes if we can save half of it for gas, electric etc.

Re: QOTD: Friday

I'm starting of at 20,000, and really hoping not to go over 25,000. My parents are paying for most of it, and we are paying for the rest. We both have small families and really want to keep it intimate, so Im hoping that we can stick to the budget with a smaller wedding!

Re: QOTD: Friday

An average wedding I think cost somewhere from $20,000 - $100,000. People tend to have different averages depending on who is paying & their financial situation. I would like to stay in the under $50,000 range.

Re: QOTD: Friday

My family gave us $15k which is completely going to the cost of the RH.

Me and FH have worked out how much we can save per month until the wedding and we've come up with $12K. So everything besides the RH will have to equal $12k!

So budget is $27k tops, but we're hoping for $25k and under!

Re: QOTD: Friday

my parents are paying for the recetion and we are looking at about $20K just with that....

And then my FH and I figured out what we want to spend on the rest..... .and we are hoping not to go over $12K for flowers, DJ, photographer, and invites.....

HOP'ING....

We also haven't heard anything from his parents... about if they are helping us out with anything or not... so tomorrow (sat) we go to Teachers Fed Credit union and open up our JOINT savings account!!!! to start the saving..

Re: QOTD: Friday

$60,000 but I dont want to spend even close to that....my dad has been saving for the big day and he said what ever we don't use can be put toward our house....so I would rather have as much money to put into the house.
