*~* QOTD Monday, 8-29-11 *~*

So first of all, thanks to legalchef for giving me a turn at BOTW!

Since most of us from 2011 are already married, and even for those of us who aren't there yet, getting engaged seems like a distant memory. I thought it would be fun to share our engagement stories again and show off our rings!

So for the QOTD - where, how, and when did FH/DH propose? And let's see the bling!

I'll start. November 22, 2009 was our 6 year anniversary. Colin took me to dinner at a one of our favorite little restaurants right off campus at the college we attended and where we started dating when I was a freshman and he was a junior. He suggested we take a walk on campus after. Our walk led us in front of the campus church. He stopped there and started telling me how much he loved me and all sorts of other good stuff and he dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife! FH's brother (who I still make fun of as a creeper that night) was hiding the whole time taking photos and set up champagne for us! It was perfect.

And here's the ring that FH picked out himself with no help from me...I couldn't have picked it out better myself!

My FH is an assistant chief at an ambulance company. At the annual installation dinner he surprised me and about 200 people by getting down on one knee. I was totally caught off guard and shocked. My parents, his parents and his brother were all there. all of them knew and his buddy who had a video camera knew too. Thank god i have this video because whenever i get kinda down with all the stress surrounding planning a wedding i just watch and i remember why we are getting married

We were going on vacation...camping in Bar Harbor, Maine. We had driven up all day, and DH was really jumpy....so I refused to let him drive the car!

We were about and hour outside of Bar Harbor and saw a cool bridge, so we pulled over to take pictures. DH was digging around the trunk for a while....he was going to propose there....and then I was like, ok I'm ready to go!

So we got to the campground and got the last site there...I made us set up the tent and then we took a walk and he wanted to go down to the eater, but I was wearing flip flops for the rocky trail so I was like noo.

He had the rings in his pocket the whole time!

So we were starving and I drove us into downtown Bar Harbor. We passed the Maine Sea Coast Mission, which is a beautiful old home on the water. The gates were open and the sun was setting...and DH wanted to propose so I could see the diamond sparkle. So he literally turns my steering wheel and jumps out of the car and says, 'let's watch the sun set.'

So I park and get out and then he starts mumbling, so I kind of knew what was coming. And then he got on one knee...and it turned out that EVERYONE knew! my mom and sister helped him pick out the ring....they had all known for like 2 months!

My DH asked my mom over Memorial Day weekend if he could marry me and of course mom said yes. She asked him when he wanted to ask and he said for my birthday...she almost died at that point because my birthday is at the end of August which means that she would have to be quiet about it for almost three months!

Well, he wanted her help in designing a ring so after work, the two of them would meet up and go to jewelers. He designed the PERFECT ring!!!

My friends were taking bets as to when it was going to happen...some thought for my birthday, others thought it would be on the cruise that we were taking over Christmas vacation. I really thought it was going to be the cruise too becasue I kept going on and on how I was sooo excited to be out to sea on new years eve!

Since he heard that my friends were expecting it ay my birthday party (I turned 30 last year), DH decided to do it earlier and thank goodness he did because mom was ready to BURST!

We went to a nice Italian restaurant. He was really figety and kept checking his pockets, but I didn't think anything of it because he puts his phone and wallet in his cargo pants pockets so i figured he was checking for that! Well we ordered and he was dead silent so I started making stupid small talk. All of a sudden I see him moving stuff aside so i figured the appetizer was coming...NOPE he grabbed my hand and then asked me to marry him. He was moving the stuff bc I'm such a clutz he thought that I would knock something over and ruin the proposal He also didn't get down on one knee because he thought I would knock the ring out of his hand and it would end up in someone's salad

Well, just to show you how clutzy I am...and right my DH was to move things...2 days before our wedding I sprained my ankle REALLY badly...an ace bandage and converse sneakers were added to my wedding wardrobe!

it was the weekend of my birthday 2010 and we were on vacation in las vegas. we go to vegas alot FH has a house there so its cheap for us and each time we're there we try to do a date night at a different casino on the strip. so we had planned for that saturday night to go to the Venetian and do a gondola ride, have dinner at Carnivore (Mario Battali's restaurant it was the best steak house i've ever been too!!) and go see Phantom. so we're waiting in line for the gondola ride and FH is being weird, we are naturally a very affectionate couple but for some reason he kept pulling away from from me so i was annoyed he was ruining date night, but he just didnt want me to notice the ring box in his pocket! anyway as we're waiting in line a couple rides by on the gondola and the driver annouces that he just proposed and i said to FH 'aww thats so romantic' not knowing he was about to propose the same way to me! so we get on and the gondola driver starts singing the song from lady and the tramp and FH proposes! everyone standing near at the casino started clapping, the driver screamed 'SHE SAID YES!!' then we went to see Phantom and then dinner at that very yummy restaurant. it was one of the most romantic sweetest nights. it was perfect!

and here's a the best pic i have of my ring, its when i was buying my wedding band. i can never take a good pic of the ring. but FH and me went together to pick it out but i will give him credit he picked this setting and i adore it!

DH wanted to propose to me in October, but on Columbus Day weekend i fell really bad and broke my tail bone and i was completely incapacitated for oner 1 month.

on November 8th, it was crazy sunny and really unseasonably warm. all week leading up to that weekend, DH was asking me where i wanted to go, (which is weird in itself because he is usually working on his cards on good weather days) but i didn't question it and said, the Cloisters Museum in upper Manhattan, which i adore.

we get there and i had always told him about the gorgeous outside areas that the museum had (which looks like a castle)

once we were on the ramparts overlooking both the Throgs Neck and Whitestone Bridges, i was taking pics of the views and DH told started his whole spiel - how much he loves me - can't spend his life without me....the usual and then he pulls out a puch (sidenote, we had gone on vacation in September to Disney and i fell in love with a necklace but it was way to expensive and he promised me that he would get it for me at home) so he starts to pull out the chain, and i was getting excited thinking he had gotten me the necklace and he keeps pulling and then he was like oops! and i thought the charm had fallen off, until he reached in and pulled out the ring instead! never saw it coming!

It was our 3 year anniversary and FH blindfolded me and drove me all the way into the city and parked. We went on a horse and buggy ride around central park and he took out a ring box and I was like no way! Turns out it was empty!!! He knew I was expecting it. lol

We go to dinner at the boathouse in central park and we had such a nice dinner...and we exchanged cards and he got the most PERFECT card about growing old with me and at the bottom it said will you marry me, and when I looked up bam there goes the ring in the box!

I him so much!

aww thanks so much! i know he made me cry like crazy. He did this in front of 200+ people! he knows how to get me to bawl

I was carrying the favors to my car with ny uncle when I stepped off the last step and rolled my ankle basically landing on it! It's still swollen so I went back to the doctor who said I now have tendinitis and should be wearing a brace especially since I'm going back to work soon! I sprained it 2 days before our wedding and, although it totally hurt, I kinda forgot about it during the wedding!!!
