Re: quick question..NWR

You've never been to a gynecologist? Do you have a family doctor that you can go to for a referral?

please don't take this the wrong way..I'm really laughing when I say this and I mean it only as a funny: Didn't you see the pics and other pregnancy stuff around the docs office when you went for your check ups?

My docs office is full of that stuff everywhere! It's like a baby mecca!

Re: quick question..NWR

You need a Ob/Gyn. I see Gen Kraus, she's nurse practitioner. But she works for Dr. Brian McKenna at Contemporary Women's Care in Smithtown. I highly recommend both! PS - my dad is a doctor, so I check w/ him before I see ANYONE!

Re: quick question..NWR

yup! if you have gyno you go to regularly, just go to them when you are pregnant- you just go to them more often... part of their certification is in obstetrics, which is pregnancy and child birth.... thats probably the other name you were thinking of... have fun!!

The only problem with this group is that they make you wait (last time i waited 2 hours) and kept changing my appointment

That's where I go too. Long waits, but they're pretty nice.

If you have insurance, I would go to a regular office. Planned Parenthood is a wonderful organization, but primarily for those without insurance or those needing immediate care they cannot get from a doctor. They do give regular appointments, but you don't really need the services they offer if you have insurance. I volunteered at Planned Parenthood in college, so I'm familiar with their policies.

I'd do some research before you start trying to conceive...Not just on the type of doctor, though you should look into that, but just all the general info. You kind of imply it's all new to you, and it's such a scary, overwhelming time that a little research can't hurt!
