re-post from LIF...Getting out of a car lease

So DH has a 2004 Dodge Hemi 1500 pickup, and he wants to get out of the lease becuase the gas is costing him about $150 a week to go from Amity Harbor to Roslyn. He talked to the dealer and they will not 'release' him from his lease.

I might be mistaken, but I though leases were no longer legal in NY, and that in reality it was a loan with a final baloon payment????


So....does anyone knwo how to get out of a lease?

no clue, my fi was in a lease also and traded it in for another new car which messed him up even more because it's a rollover effect. whatever is left on one car would roll over onto the other car. in terms of a lease i really dont' think you can get out of one, i know my fiancee really wants too also.

its not up to the dealer to take back a lease
its up to the BANK that you are paying..

lease is legal in NY but many companies are backing out because of libality's lawsuits. (ny is the only state that hasn't passed a bill yet to protect finance companies)

call your bank ank ask about your various options

We lease it through Chrysler Financial They have their own financing company.
