Rose Petal Toss
Is anyone doing this? If so, what are you using to put the petals in to hand out to everyone? Where did you get the holders and how much did you pay for the holders? THANKS
I'm undecided between rose petals and bubbles

Re: Rose Petal Toss
I am doing petals too!! I am getting them from my florist..I will have to look at what she is charging me and I will let you know. I am having my ceremony at the reception site so I don't think I am getting alot of them.. I wanted bubbles, but they said no...insurance risk for them.

My sisters did and they both used those things ( i forget what they are called) the ruffles on the edge, circular shape...starts with a 'd'Anyway we rolled them into cones and seeled them with the pretty stickers from Michael's

Re: Rose Petal Toss
Doilys work perfect to put in cone shape then a small piece of tape.

Re: Rose Petal Toss
Teri, can I ask how exactly you made them? What size piece of paper did you use? And did you use glue or tape to hold it? I would love to make my own! But I figured only doilies would be the best way to make them! THANKS

Re: Rose Petal Toss
Thanks! I'm personally not a fan of doilies, so I found this to use instead. My sister's a musician, so she sent me the sheet music to the piece I walked down the isle to, and I photocopied the sheet music onto 8 1/2x11 ivory copy paper. Then, I rolled each piece of paper into a cone, and dabbed a bit of glue on the inside corner - you don't need a lot for each piece....that's it!The day before the wedding I gave my cones to my florist to fill with petals on the AM of the big day.

Re: Rose Petal Toss
I am making the cones too with translucent vellum and going to try and print the our names and date. Terri did you have problem with staining? Do you think that if by horrible chance it is raining we should not do it? Thanks

Re: Rose Petal Toss
my florist just filled a huge basket and she walked around with it (she is a friend and was a guest) - you could have the flower girl or someone else designated to do this, I thought it worked out great.

Re: Rose Petal Toss
I was considering doing the cones as well, but my mother suggested some 'rude' guests may just throw down the cones afterwards. Has anyone had this happen? I'm now thinking of just having loose petals in the basket.

Re: Rose Petal Toss
No, we didn't see any litter of used cones afterwards - our church had a custodian, so I think he was out taking them from everyone - or maybe some of the guests kept them? Not sure, but it wasn't a problem for us.Up until the day before our wedding, the forecast called for TORRENTIAL rain on our day
we were so upset, but I made all the cones anyway, just in case. I was glad I did, because we had a beautiful outdoor receiving line, and we were able to get the picture below, which is one of my faves
Jen - oh, don't get me wrong - I 'stole' this idea from Colin Cowie's wedding book! he's the new Martha Stewart
Here's the B&W pic of my actual basket - I decorated the basket with silk flowers from Michaels, to cut down on the cost of the florist - even she loved it!

Re: Rose Petal Toss
I made my cones really small using 1/4 of paper doilies I bought at the 99 cents store. I didnt want them to be too large b/c:a)I wasnt sure how many petals I would have since I was getting them the morning of the wedding from the florist.
b)I didnt want the photos to have everyone holding these large cones.
c) I honestly expected someone to throw the cone with the flowers in it at us (yes, there are very stupid people out there who do this)
d) I didnt want to spend any money on it or much time
