someone was hit by a truck and killed outside my building!

I work in NYC and someone was hit by a truck and killed right outside my building today. I did not see / hear anything (I work 19 floors up), but someone in the elevator told me.

That's SO scary and very sad!

FH works only two blocks from here, too! I know that it's a long shot, but I won't feel better until I hear back from him!

At any rate, I'll be a lot more careful walking to Penn Station tonight after work.

Prayers for the victim's family!

I'm sure you FH is fine. But I know how you feel anytime something bad happens and I haven't heard from DH I freak out.

Yikes!! I don't know if this was the situation, but I always think people are risking their lives when they try to cross the street against the light. I can never understand why people do this.

And in fairness to pedestrians, just about everyone runs red lights around here, too.

I don't know what happened, though - just want to hear back from FH!

Still, while I'm very relieved, I am so sad for the loved ones of whoever was killed.

You know, this is really a good point, though. I am always rushing to get home or rushing to get into the office so I can get out earlier... and sometimes I don't pay attention. I'm going to be a lot more careful now. SCARY, scary reality check!

I think I know where it was! I met a friend on mine for lunch and walked down to meet her and as I was walking by (I think it was like 44th street) the entire street was closed off and police were everywhere but I had no idea what has happened! That is so terrible!!
