Sony or Olympus for a digital Camera?

I am looking at getting a Sony digital camera and wondering if anyone has any likes or dislikes to share.

Someone told me Olympus is the best so now I dont know what to do. What do you think is better?

I talked to a lot of people who have digital cameras before I bought my Olympus Stylus 300. I was told over and over that the Sony's are overpriced, as are the memory and other accesories you need for them. Everyone agreed that Olympus is one of, if not the best digital camera manufacturer right now.

We were looking to get that one of the Sony P8. Are you happy with your pictures? Also, where did you get your camera...we are not sure if we are better off getting it at a camera store.

We got it at Best Buy. We are happy with it, but my future in laws love their Sony. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

We have a sony cuber shot 3.2 megapixels it does movies too and we love it!!

but we love it because we have a sony vaio and a sony clie so everything is super compatabile!

FH and I bought our first digital camera last week... After doing ALOT of research, we ended up buying the Sony CyberShot DSC-P8. It was a little bit on the pricey side, but worth every penny!!! You can never go wrong with buying Sony. The picture quality is amazing!!!!! We also bought the 128 memory card since we will be using the camera alot during our vacations. IMO with Sony products you pay a little more, but you get your money's worth. I love our camera and am extremely happy with it!

We have a SONY & love it! My dad has one too--they just came out with an AWESOME 5 megapixel one--it's the P9---ours is 3.2

We just bought an Olympus and we love it. It takes beautiful pictures. My DH is big on electronics and he knows a lot about this stuff and he feels the Olympus is one of the best cameras out there.

I bought my FI an Olympus several months ago and he loves it! Personally I don't think you can go wrong with either a Sony or an Olympus. They both are great digital cameras.

Do all you digital camera owners get good shots in very low light? I feel like it's only me who can't get any dig pics in low light (without other pieces of equipment). I was at my friend's wedding and the lights were low and I saw lots of other people taking pics with their dig cameras and mine was not getting anything good at all. Yes, the flash was on but the pics were not even worth trying to take. I have a Canon CoolPix 950.

After a lot of research & seraching...we went with a Canon a couple of years ago. LOVE it.

Edited cause I mistakingly called it a Sony.

I have a Canon and love it. My only problem is that I can't zoom really close to things I'm already near (i.e. - take a good detailed close up shot) it never comes out. But otherwise I love it!

I also have a Canon powershot G3 and I love it. It's a 4 MegaPixel and has a great zoom lens. It was pricey, but worth it to me.

I have a SONY CD400-- and love it-- I dont have issues with memory(price, etc) because my camera burns directly onto CD's-- makes life so much easier!!!

We love our Olympus. I hope to upgrade it towards the end of the year and will probably get another olympus.

Personally, from my research you can't go wrong with a Sony or Olympus. They are two of the best esp. if you by in the higher end models. If I bought it myself I bet I would have gone with Olympus because they probably are the best (depending on model - I am a computer geek kind of - work in IT) but mine was a gift and I got the Sony. It is over a year old and it was the P3 at that time. It has been great and totally meets my need of taking great vacation pictures and short videos and sharing with others - fine quality, battery life, etc. I hear great things about the P8.
