Sparklers
Guys,Have you ever been to a wedding at the SandCastle or another hall which had sparklers coming out from the ceiling? I am getting these because my banquet manager says it looks lovely. But I am not sure how it would look and if I should have it.

Re: Sparklers
honestly, and please take no offense from this, i looked at sandcastle in my vendor search and the room we saw was set up for a wedding and it didnt look nice to me. i was so afraid that the sparklers would get caught on the flowers and a huge fire would start or if they went off they would scare the older members of the family.i booked a different hall, but IMO i am not for the sparklers

Re: Sparklers
Thanks for the advice.. That was a major concern of mine. Do you remember if the room you saw was the one upstairs?Karen

Re: Sparklers
we saw both the upstairs and downstairs room. The downstairs room was the one set up with the sparklers and the upstairs room was in the process of being set up for a wedding

Re: Sparklers
I have the room upstairs. They said that the sparklers will be coming from the ceiling over the dancefloor not from the centerpieces themselves. I think it works with a remote control. I guess I should speak with my banquet manager about the dangers involved.Karen

Re: Sparklers
cool. definatly talk to the BM about the dangers. You dont want to frighten anyone (especially older members of the family) and you dont want anyone to fall if anything is on the floor.ask them how its done, how long it lasts, does anything fall from them, are there wires, etc..
also ask if you can get a sneak peak of how it works this way you'll have an idea on your wedding day

Re: Sparklers
We're having our reception at Floral Terrace (same owners as Sand Castle) and they also have the sparklers. I saw them at a FT showcase and they looked really cool. I think you can also see them on the vendor video that they gave us when we booked with them. Did you get the video? We really like them, but haven't decided if we want to spend the extra $$.

Re: Sparklers
I'm not sure.. LONG DAY/NIGHT LOL she had a full mass and then like a 7 hour reception or something.. we felt like we were there for days..It was the one with the tv screens?? and it looked like a castle inside? she had like 450 people.. the cocktail was out of this world.. she had, ice sculptures, shrimp out the gazoo, lobsters, all sorts of carving stations, clams, you name it, she had it.. she also had the viennese, which they do the sparklers on also

Re: Sparklers
I got married at the Sand Castle and I had the sparklers. When we were first told about them, I was hesitant for the reasons stated above -- people getting frightened and the fire hazard concern. But my husband really wanted them, so we went with the ones in the ceiling, not the centerpieces -- I got married in the Skylight room upstairs and they were over the dance floor. I have to tell you that it looked really cool when they went off when we walked in and it looks great on the video!!

Re: Sparklers
This may seem like a stupid question but don't sparklers leave smoke in the room afterward??
