Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

I'm on the pill and am due to get my period in the middle of my honeymoon. I spoke to my gyno about 'shifting' it a few months in advance to avoid side effects around the time of the wedding, but he said all I could really do is skip the placebos one week which would shift it up (to come one week early), or skip the placebos the week of the honeymoon (to skip it that month). In theory I probably should have shifted it a week early twice over the course of this past year, but now it's the 2 month mark so it's not an option.

I thought I could shift it by 2 weeks, but my dr says its not healthy to do that and would screw with my system?

Do i....

a) skip this month's placebos, move my period up a week and have it come the tues/wed before the wedding and hope it's completely gone by Sun (my wedding day)?

b) skip the placebos the week of the honeymoon, skip it that month, and hope i have no spotting or weird side effects on my honeymoon

Leaving it be and getting it on my honeymoon isn't really an option. Our honeymoon is 8 days, and I'd be getting my period 1 day in, and essentially having it the whole time. Not happening, especially since my doc said the other 2 options are perfectly safe. Just not sure which one is better.

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

i voted let it be :) i was all worried about the same thing before our wedding, but i had never messed with my pills before and didn't want to risk spotting or cramping on our wedding day. i had my period for 4 days on the honeymoon and it wasn't the most fun thing in the world, but we got over it--period or not, it is still the most romantic, relaxing time ever!!!

It is better than having it fully during your honeymoon!

since i've switched pills last fall, my period can last up to 5-6 days, all of which would be on our honeymoon

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

I guess we are all thinking about our periods as our dates draw near.. my period is suppose to come the week of my honeymoon. I can push it up to the week before but my periods are long so I run the chance of it going into the wedding day which I totally don't want. I tried taking the pills back to back last year for our annual vacation but I still had spotting during the entire vacation which was annoying..... these are the times I HATE PERIODS

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

Ok - according to my dr - its perfectly ok not to get your period and they even have pills that are 3 months of non stop pills

The spotting is a possible side effect - not a definate- and i believe only a small amount get them. I was on the Seasonale pills for a while and i never spotted once.

Good luck!

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

i'm on the ring but it's sort of the same concept. i was due to get it at the end of the honeymoon also and just put a new one in so I wouldn't. so I would skip the placebo pills and start a new pack. that's what i've done before and I never had issues skipping - and even light spotting is better than totally getting it.

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

you can either skip it now or the week of the HM.

i was due to get my period on the 1st vacation FH and I ever took together and I didnt want that to happen so i just started the new dose without allowing for the period week, the week of our vacation.

i had no problem until the very end of the new dose's cycle where i had some spotting.

otherwise it all worked out.

good lcuk!

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

I voted for B... Every time I've skipped the placebo's I've never spotted, so maybe you'll be lucky and not even spot on your HM!

yeah, i'm torn between skipping the placebos now and getting it the week before the wedding (light or over by the wedding) or skipping it the week of the honeymoon and hoping for no spotting. i need to decide soon

im not spending 5-6 of our 8 day honeymoon with my period.

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

I would probably just start the new pack while you are on your HM. I am doing that now and so far it is fine. Some of the PMS systoms are lingering a little but nothing terrible.

I am doing it now to adjust when I will get my period next month and up until the wedding and then will skip my period again all together while I am on my HM.

My doctor says it is safe to NEVER get your period and told me to just not get between now until after the HM -- not something I wanted to do.

Re: Spinoff to period on honeymoon - need help!

I would let it be also. Am I weird that I literally have no clue yet when my period will be, I haven't assessed that yet ... uh oh!!!
