Yeah. Everyone is walking around here with sullen faces (I work in the Senate), Democrats and Republicans. Byrd just gave a heart wrenching speech on the floor. so so so sad.

exactly - love him or hate him; democrat or republican, Ted Kennedy is a staple in US politics. so sad....

This is soooo sad. Ted Kennedy is one of my idols because of his positions on America's labor laws. Total bummer.

So sad to hear that.
NY Times was reporting that even though the tumor can be treated with radiation and or chemo, the outcome is generally not good.

He's an icon in a politcal dynasty.

yes, i heard this. very sad.

he has the same kind of tumor that took my dad in 04, almost exactly a yr from diagnosis started with a seizure just like my dad and the area affected is the same as well, left side, affects speech.

this is so sad. I am a HUGE kennedy buff.... I am fascinated by them.

He has been such an icon in politics... i mean he's had some heck of a messed up past, but you can't help but be a bit intrigued.

i wish him the best.... those kennedy's can't seem to escape tragedy. He will be the last brother gone if he passes from this... and then there will only be 3 sisters left from the original 9.

oh yeah, and the other ones did not die well:

oldest brother (who dad really wanted to groom to be Prez) Joseph died in WWII piloting a plane.

in 1948, Kathleen, a sister was killed in a plane crash in Europe.

JFK and Bobby, obviously we all know what happened there in 1963 and 1968.

The oldest daughter Rosemary, died a few years ago of old age. What was tragic about her, was that she was born developmentally delayed. the crazy father had her lobotimized in the 40's. she was basically a vegetable after that botched-up psycho operation. she was institutionalized for the rest of her life. (Eunice Kennedy Shriver, her sister, started the Special Olympics in her honor).

The ones that are left are: Eunice Kennedy Shriver (Maria Shriver's mom and Arnold's MIL), Pat Lawford (she was married to Peter Lawford the movie start who was in the Rat Pack in the 50's) and Jean Kennedy Smith (it was her son Steven, a doctor, that was brought up on a rape charges in the early 90's.

And yes, clearly i need a life that i actually know all this Kennedy trivia... i'm a tad obsessed!

hey, its a fascinating family- thanks for the background I didn't know that about the other siblings (although I did hear about the sister that had the labotomy!)

yea...its sad he has a tumor....but does NOBODY remember how he had numerous drunk driving convictions, one which he KILLED a woman because he was so drunk he drove off a bridge and left her in the car to die, and then spent hours upon hours trying to cover it up. Sorry, but its been long known that Ted Kennedy is a terrible person. He was a lying, cheating, drunk whose spent most of his life trying to get himslef out of the messes he's made. I personally believe in karma...

JMO- apparently he's made some very poor choices.... but i don't believe in 'karma.' getting sick bc you haven't led a perfect life? who of us has?
