Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

I had a wedding out in Westhampton @ Atlantica today. I spoke to the photographers when they were on their way this morning + told them to at least get the bride and groom playing in the snow if nothing else. When I checked in on them later this afternoon, I found out that the sun was shining, the sky was blue and they were almost on schedule! You never know!

Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

There was an article in the Daily News about a couple that was scheduled to get married today. They were unsure if they were going to postpone it or not. Wow, now I am having second thoughts about my February 2002 wedding. Well I better start praying now.
Stay warm!!

Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

Ya never know!
I've done portraits outside many times in Dec./Jan./Feb. The number of times that there are bad rain/snow days are really minimal. The worst I ever had was 10/19/96. We had a monsoon! I had five weddings scheduled that day! (The most in a day that year!) It was a mess, but somehow it all worked. One that I did @ Oheka that day the band didn't make to. Didn't matter. Pictures were great and everyone is still happy. Don't worry. It all works out somehow. Tis a mystery, but it really does.

Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

I saw a wedding on the news last night. Instead of a limo they had an SUV and the bride was carried to it. They said the organist and limos didn't show but they were determined to go through with it. It definitely makes the occasion memorable! Wedding insurance anyone?!

Have you asked the bridal shop? They should be best able to tell you how to handle the sizing problem for both your mother-to-be attendant and the flower girl. I'm sure most places have dealt with these things before. If it does entail a larger size being altered, check to see that the shop has a cap on alterations. Mine does and I think it is around $30. I agree with Kristi, you can have the out of towners get measured at a local bridal place and send you the measurements (It's worth the nominal fee to have a professional seamstress take the measurements). We are doing that for tuxes for 2 of our ushers. You're right, it's never too early to have something out of the way but if it makes you feel any better, we ordered BM dresses in September and they were in in November. My dress, I ordered in July and it came in in November too. Good luck.

I definitely agree with you though about taking in a dress. The only thing I worry about, is how much extra room to give them. I certainly don't want to overcompensate either.

Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

The report from yhe front (Atlantica in Westhampton) was that only a dozen guests didn't make it yesterday! That's actually close enough to normal for any day! Amazing!

I told you so

I was on a couple of months ago and educated you winter brides regarding wedding insurance. You should look into it. By the way don't think you winter brides are the only ones where a wedding can be cancelled. Oct 19 1996 or 97. We had a noreaster that was much worse than Saturday. Roads were closed everywhere. It was a disaster. Hurricane Gloria a couple of years back wiped out the entire weekend, because electric was down everywhere. By the way, see if your caterer has a generator. I remember the Crest Hollow at that time was one of the rare few where everything went on cause they did have a generator. Things can happen in any month. At least all of the roads were passible on Saturday. We had a party in Atlantic City and the band made it with no problem. In fact it was easier than trying to get to Jersey on a Friday night. Remember you cannot predict the weather. Keep your winter weddings girls.

Congratulations Cindy. How exciting!!!!!!! I hope your day is fantastic! Good luck to your and your fiance!!

Congrats Amy!!!!

Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

My mom saw something on either the news or the weather channel about a couple that was to get married on Saturday, and their limo company cancelled on them. So the local fire department heard about it, and they came with an SUV to pick up the bride, and either guests or the bridal party got a ride on the fire truck! And no one in the wedding was even in the bridal party! Makes you really glad you made those donations to your local fire department!

Wow, that's really cool! Did they say who the fire department was, or who the limo company was? Just curious.

I am very critical of detail and don't want to get stuck with a dress for her that is a different fabric or shade than what my other girls are wearing.

Was Anyone Getting Married This Weekend?

Thank God my FI is slow at getting things done!!! Had the ring been on my finger when he originally said it would be than I would have been getting married on Sunday!!! All he could say now is 'look...my lateness has paid off for once!!!'

Well, at least he saved me some heart failure!!!
