weatherplanner.com

i went to weatherplanner.com and recorded the 'forecasted' weather for 2001 on my calendar. they have predicted rain or chance of showers almost every weekend this summer. we are getting married in july 2002, but wanted to use the site as a guide and check accuracy. i personally don`t believe that it is possible to predict the weather a year in advance or even a month in advance. has anyone referred to this site for weather forecasting and what is their accuracy? please don`t laugh, i know this is a little nutty, but i guess we all have a case of the crazies when planning. thanks! -dani

Don't even bother looking at it. For my wedding on Dec 2, 2000, it forcasted rain, sleet and snow and 20 degrees. I had a VERY sunny day, but it was 40 degrees, but we knew it would be cold. I just didn't want sleet and snow!! So don't look at it, it is totatlly wrong! You may be better off checking the farmer's almanac, just to get an idea of the rain factor. Good luck!

weatherplanner.com - Don`t rely on it

I have heard people look at it and it has been inaccurate. Do yourself a favor and not take it as a fact, especially of course if it says your wedding day will be terrible weather. It can make you unnecessarily upset or worried.

I am a meteorologist. Though I don't forecast for a living, I do know about forecasting. Weather planner probably runs a forecast based on the probability of rain that time of year. You can NOT accurately forecast the weather more than a few weeks in advance for a specific location. Weather planner has nothing to lose by predicting rain every weekend. In July, there are many showers and thunderstorms. Weather planner can predict showers and thunderstorms and probably be correct. The problem is that not every location will have rain and not every hour of the day. It can be perfectly sunny for a 6 PM wedding in Huntington, for instance, but there can be a thunderstorm in Dix Hills at 8 PM. In other words, you have to accept the weather you receive. Plan for uncertainty.
