Wedding day tasks for friends?

I have two close friends who are not in the wedding party, but I would like to include them in some way in the wedding. We are only going to have one reader who will most likely be my stepmother, so that task is out. I was thinking maybe having them greet the guests before they sit down and give them programs. Do you have any suggestions? I know a similar question was asked maybe two months ago (?) but I couldn't find the thread. Thanks for your help!

I have a program attendant and a guest book attendant for two teenage girls that could not put in the wedding party.

how about bringing the gifts up in the church, the program idea is good or even giving out the bubbles, flowers or stuff that one throws at the bride and groom

What exactly did the guest book attendant do? These women are in their 30s but I don't think that's a task only delegated to a teenager, is it? I want these two women to be a part of the celebration, and maybe passing out programs, rose petals or bubbles, and taking care of the guest book will do it! It will also be extremely helpful for me as well! Thanks for the ideas!
