Wedding planning question...

Is it just me, or does it seem that the closer you get to the wedding, and more into the detailed wedding planning, that your mother and FMIL seem to have more opinions, well that's too nice, more of 'What you should or have to do' things to say??? It's really getting to me. I know I should do what I want, but I can't get away from it, not even living out of state! One says, I have to wear a veil over my face, the other says you have to put this on your invitations, you have to wear this kind of shoe, the respond cards should be sent here, not there, you need to have this at your RH dinner, etc, etc, etc, AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaahhh!!! Thanks, just needed to vent!

I feel your pain...

try not to let it get to you. I was having shower stress because there were too many 'cooks in the kitchen' if you know what I mean!Just think of how wonderful life will be when you are married and away from everyone on your honeymoon.

What I did...

I had the same problem. Everyone was telling me how to do this, how to do that etc. Just remember this is YOUR wedding, not theres. It got a little out of hand so what I did was I got my mom and my future mother n law and sat them down and explained to them, that I appreciate their suggestions, but the final decision is mine, and they respected that. Hope this helps.

What I did...

'I am not sure yet' 'That is a nice idea, I will think about it' or if FMIL asks a question, 'My Mom is helping with me with that. I am not sure' Those are perfect answers to almost every question. Also, never ask for an opinion unless you want one. Phrase things in statements 'We have already decided to do XXXX' instead of 'We might want to do XXX, what do you think?' See the difference. And when all else fails I use 'Well I want to do XXX and since my name is on the check I guess I can!' Hope this helps. Believe me I feel your pain!
